Hi. I own a 2022 M340i, mine is one of the models that was affected by the chip shortage during that time of manufacture. Because of this my car does not have a touchscreen idrive unit. Has anyone done a retrofit successfully into a g20? Bimmertech does not have an off the shelve solution for this just yet, is it a matter of finding an oem touchscreen, coding, and done? I would have an independent shop do this of course if it is possible. Thanks!

Should be possible to install the touch screen display. You install it then code it and should work.
I can code it remotely if you have enet cable, you only need to find the screen and install it.

Would it have to be recoded after an ota software update?

The cid screen is available on ebay to complete this retro. Bimmertech also has the retro available, but it depends on who you speak with. 1st person toldbme it could be done, and they could supply the parts. 2nd told me they didn’t have a kit, and 3rd said they could supply kit. Bimmertech proce was $1100-$1200, and included screen and remote coding. You could save a couple of bucks off that price by sourcing the screen yourself, as they get it from another company.
