OttoAibox i3 BMW CarPlay AI Box

Hello all.
Any experience with the below wireless adapter?
I am looking for a more enhanced ID8 experience by using also youtube/Netflix etc on my G20 330E LCI Model 2023Y
OttoAibox i3 BMW CarPlay AI Box https://ottoaibox.com/collections/sh...51646950441327

I know that there are plenty adapters in the global market but the specific one seems that has a kind of integration with ID8 and better compatibility. In fact I am looking to buy an adapter from EU in order to avoid extra customs charges.

Any alternative to OttoAibox?

Hi, I joined the forum today ask questions about Ottocast. I bought it and here is my experience. My car is 2024 M440i xDrive Gran Coupe, ID8.

I bought the Ottoibox-i3 for BMW. Takes a little time to get shipped from China. The shipping tracking a Chinese company but is in English and seems reliable. It is easy to setup. They give USB c to A cable. It only works with the USB-A slot, does not work with glove box USB C to C. (FYI: I bought a right angle USB A and C, works great, can reach the charging slot for the phone.).

The device itself is easy, it worked from the start, little bit getting used. Once you connect to WiFi (will come to it, my criticism). I tethered through my iphone. It works great, Youtube, Netflix and others work like a charm. I bought their remote which is cheap, would skip it. Bought amazon remote with keyboard at the back which is very useful.

My main criticism is with achieving independent WiFi or mobile network access to the device. It comes with sim slot. But I have at&t - tried to add extra data sim to the device which didn't work (not recognizing even with the IMEI number). The Ottoibox guys gave me a support email - i still need to contact them. Not sure what they can do.

I tried to add WiFi to the BMW. Found out my car though 2024 M440i xDrive Gran Coupe does not have the eSIM capability, not sure how that is possible as I can see the car in myBMW app. Anyway, 3 days with service and came back with sorry, unable to add wiFi to the car. At&t was able to do the NumberSync. Anyway, back to tethering with iphone which works fine.

My next steps will reach out to support at Ottoaibox to see if they sent me a default piece, as a SIM should just work.

Anyway, hope this info is helpful.

On a positive note, the box itself works great by tethering from iphone.
