I have found that the OTA updates have a number of safety checks. Being charged because you are driving might eliminate one of the issues, but if the battery is oder than 3 years old it may very well be that the voltage that the battery is providing is lower than the safety check allows. I had this issue recently, checked my battery with a voltage meter and was at 11.9V even though it would start and drove almost every day. I replaced the battery, now showing 12.9V-13.1V and the OTA update happened within a few days.

Not guaranteeing this will fix your issue, but definitely check the voltage of the battery and consider replacing the battery if it is older than 3 years and less than 12V showing.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check this tomorrow with ISTA more thoroughly. I did check the event/ error code but just didn't have time to go further.

Yep- MGU-21 HU’s running on 2018 hardware running “mature” (ie orphaned) software.

The logistics of running a company like bmw must be staggering, tbh… but as an end user- a more “line replaceable/upgradable unit” approach seems to make more sense to me- although I’m sure that’s somewhat stifled by cost and/or regulation.

I’m also on the same version. Top up my battery with a tender about once a quarter too but haven’t gotten a notification for an update in 8 months.

I have a BMW 320d (2020) imported from Japan, and I am currently in Cyprus. Finally I successfully connected my car to the BMW app without any issues. However, I noticed that the software version on the car is still from 2019.xx (pre-installed), and I haven't received any updates through the app, even though I expected to use the Remote Software Upgrade feature. I do want upgrade in order to use Android Auto as I don't have it now

Has anyone experienced something similar, or do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this and get the latest updates? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

A friend of mine, has same car as me, but fuel consumption is still "fast changing".

None, however, the AVERAGE still seems to be correct, just the refresh of the instantaneous is low

I just noticed I lost caring car and the climate control rules menus. Not sure if it is because of my BMW connected services expiration (after 3 years) or the software update I had a few months ago (03/2024.47). Anyone with similar issue? I tried to reboot Idrive by holding on/off button for 45 secs but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

I see (in the other thread) that the coding worked. BMW implemented the auto heating as an "app" and paid service.

Coding works. Don't even have to go into expert mode. Got both my heated seats and steering wheel rules back.

Anyone thats on the latest update i think now 11/2024, can confirm if theres an auto start stop button added in idrive 8 for those that dont have it? I know other models got it already but not sure if we will get it.

Never mind - found the post, it's a shortcut and by looks of it is just for iD 8.5. I will check my car today though.

I think the hardware is slightly different for idrive 8.5 cars but its still not acceptable.
Im sure they can still add it.

I cant stand the hesitation caused by this feature anymore so I guess i will just have to use the sport individual settings set to comfort.

Other options we have include xhp TCU tune (which I dont want right now because of warranty) and Bimmercode was also working on a obd plug in module but no word about that yet.

cooloff - you can't. You need a different HW to run iD 8.5.

Hello. Does anyone else know or have a problem that in the update menu there is no option for remote software update, but only for usb? It is a G20 produced on 11.2019. and bought in Germany. Is it possible to get a software update that could be put on the usb and through it update the idrive?
