When this update available are we going to get on our phones with BMWconnect plus in car if we are in it or driving it.
Is there a way knowing which one would be any quicker/better, should we download on phone first or doesn't matter.

It's probably available to dealers but not pushed to OTA servers yet. Hoping that happens this week.

BMWNA said if you have the app on your phone, then the app will push a notification when there is an update available. The app will then download the update to your phone (only over WiFi by default) and when your phone pairs to your car the next time you're in it, the update will be loaded onto the car. I'm unsure if you can drive the car while it's installing the update, and some updates could take some time, so I'd keep this in mind.

I had my car in to the dealer on Monday (7/29) and they were addressing some of the issues that I was having w/ CarPlay and the NFC reader. They updated the software this morning.

I'll update this thread with any new finds if I discover any/or behaviors. The timing of me dropping the car off on Monday was a coincidence. My SA didn't even know about the software update until I mentioned it to him this afternoon (because of this thread.)

This is super cool, and one of the reasons I picked the 3 series. If this is ultimately delivered to us through an OTA, or even if I have to go the the dealer to get it, it shows that BMW is really starting to get it from a technology upgradeability standpoint, like Tesla.

was really hoping for an android auto addition, but i guess not yet, BMW has a long way to go on the tech ive had my 330I for 30 days and they still cant get my NFC key to work on my work its a joke

Do you have Driving Assistant Professional? If so, can you check whether the G21 feature (Assisted Driving View) is now available?

I guess BMW rolls out updates in waves - so if you're at a dealer you might get it early, OTA might come later.

Though I've seen people still on a 2018 software level, so that whole OTA thing might not work very well right now - but there's still hope it will at some point.
