G20 Hardwire dashcam

Has anyone hardwired something like the BlackVue 650s-2ch dashcam directly to the battery of a G20?
Looking for which fuses to use.

Does anyone know where the location of the "FB Front Right" fusebox is on the G20s?
I am assuming driver's footwell? Car is RHD

So I have found that fusebox, it is in the driver's footwell, 2 plastic screws hold it in place, easy to take out.
I have wired my blackvue magic pro as follows:

Battery cable going to fuse #29
Accessory cable going to fuse #36
Ground cable to a metal part of the chassis around the fusebox

The cameras are powered just fine but I think that fuse #36 must be always on since the magic pro did not turn off after 12 hours like it is set and also when I toggle the parking mode switch the LED does not go off (meaning constant power I guess)

Anyone know a good small fuse that I can use for accessory in the front fusebox?

Try F46 (or one of the others) as they are for the cigarette lighters.

Hard wire dashcam to fusebox of G20 330e

Can I ask if you used fuse #59 & what other fuse did you piggyback off was it fuse #29 & what amp of fuse did you use for dashcam?
Is the fusebox located on footwell of drivers side or passenger side of right hand drive 330e hybrid G20 (2019/2020) (Ireland)

Is this in the righthand footwell? Even on RHD car? How did people get the wiring into the box once they located it? Just got my G21 2 days ago and want my dashcam hooked up asap. Thanks.

Yes it is on the driver's side footwell but starting to think F59 fuse is not great, I had the camera lose power after less than 1 hour today instead of staying on in park mode.
Think we need to find another fuse that is always on.

I have a US spec car. Silly question - how do I access the fuse box in the driver's footwell?

I pulled down the top panel in the footwell area when I had to access the firewall hole to route my JB4 OBD connector, but did not see the fuse box.

Fuse 29 is always on
Fuse 59 is ignition switched

#59 does take a few minutes to actually turn off but I did test it and can confirm that it definitely turns off.

I used the Blackvue power magic pro, and it has two voltage settings. 12v and 12.5v, these are the limit at which the device will cut power to the camera. At 12v the car complained like hell that the battery was being run out, even to the point where it wouldn't turn on any of the interior lights, the indicators didn't flash and lights didn't turn on when locking/unlocking etc etc (thankfully it still started without trouble!). The camera would stay turned on for well over a day (I have the Blackvue 900s-2CH).

Setting the voltage cutoff to 12.5v didn't really help as the camera would only stay on for an hour max, sometimes only a few minutes. There is a timer option, but never messed with that; I just left it set to infinite.

I took the plunge and bought a Blackvue B-124x battery pack for it, gonna fit it tomorrow.

Its in the right front foot well - your passenger side. The side that the steering wheel is on doesn't matter to the fuse box location. Mine's a UK spec so it is RHD and the fuse panel is under the driver side. there's a panel that pulls off after two plastic screws are turned (they are quite large, and require a flat head blade. The fuse box is against the outside of the vehicle. Don't pull the panel too hard as there is a light in it, and a speaker.

Its also worth noting that the accessory fuse (#59) isn't really that important, it is only used if you have a timing feature on your hard-wire kit.

The Nextbase one that was linked doesn't have that feature so doesn't need the accessory/switched fuse. You'll want an always on fuse, use #29 for that.

Hi Guys thanks for feedback
The Next Base 522GW is currently in my F30 hybrid powered through 12volt socket located under the glovebox, & I expect delivery of my New G20 Hybrid Msport in 2 weeks which doesn't have the same (hidden) 12 volt socket under glovebox hence me trying to find switched live fuse in footwell area of G20 to hardwire it to!!

Simonbt ..mentions Fuse 59 is ignition switched which sounds good in that the power to that fuse turns off after a few minutes when car is turned off, so NO battery drainage can occur, can I ask what fuse #59 is used for powering in the G20 ? Also can I ask is it the kick panel to the right of your foot at bottom of A pillar that has to be removed to access the fuse box or a plastic panel held in by 2 plastic screws under the dash R/H side footwell area? Sorry a little confused !!

#59 looks to power the motorised wing mirrors

I've attached a few photos of the plastic panel I was talking about, and the fuse box itself (I was actually in my car fitting the battery when i saw this post!). The screws are more just clips, they require a quarter turn to release - you can see them in the bottom left and right of the first photo.

Just out of curiosity as I'm looking at the DR900S-2ch with Power Magic Pro myself, do you use the stop/start in the car or turn it off when you start up? Id have expected the dashcam to last longer than an hour on 12.5v! Id be expecting 12hours +

The 12v setting I can appreciate the car going nuts as thats bordering on a flat/dead battery, especially one like ours with lots of computers and gadgets

I leave the stop start function turned on but to be quite honest I do drive it in sport mode a lot and that disables stop/start. Possibly 50/50 being on and off.

I only had it in the car set to 12.5v for a few days after the car complained that the battery was low so I can't really give any solid info on whether it would work as expected. It might work perfectly well on 12.5v and my battery was still flat from having it set to 12v for a month.

I've just ordered a NextBase 522GW, how are you guys finding the install? The trim particularly around the top of the windscreen looks quite tight, is it easy enough to just pop in there?

Fair enough, thanks for the reply!

Just got all my stuff this morning. Didnt think about what size fuse taps I'd need, only got Mini ones

Just to check I got this right for tapping into Mini fuses

Batt (always on) to #36
Acc (switched) to #59

Tried using a circuit tester on the fuses but naturally as soon as you open the car door every fuse comes to life so couldnt actually check which ones are always on or switched myself

Just thought I'd reply with this. Found this great website showing what every fuse does and whether it goes through ignition relay or not. Will come in use to someone no doubt. Attached pic of fuses I looked at and whether always on or ignition switched. This is for the driver footwell fuse box (RHD UK Car) 320d xDrive

I just looked this up because it seemed like a clever solution, but holy shit....~$300 for a battery. That seems steep for what it is.
