Alpha 1 AMP and Sub Upgrade Issues
Had the AMP and sub woofers installed in my '21 M340ix today. Getting pops and static noise intermittently from the subs and other speakers. Not sure if it's the ASD (not deactivated yet) or a bad AMP. Installer says wiring is all good, (checked and rechecked) so we'll see what's up when he is able to contact Bimmertech support in the morning.
Sounds like crap right now. Anyone else experience these, or similar, issues? |

Bimmertech and the installer had a debug session the other day and concluded that one of the subs is likely bad. As a side note, when the subs showed up and I opened the packaging the self-tapping screws when not in the zip lock bag and were loose rolling around in the box. The strange thing is I could only find 6 screws not the 8 that should be included. The screws were not lodged in the subs and there didn't appear be any visual damage but who knows. Bimmertech did send me 8 screws, but it just seems to be too much of a coincidence? New subs are shipping to the installer (who has been really good), so we'll see if that fixes the issue. For those that buy the amp, you definitely need to disable ASD. It was part of the issue and causing the mids located in the doors to vibrate excessively.

I hope it turns out well for you. My experience with the Bimmertech Amp is that the tunning needs to be redone. I ended up tuning the Match Amp DSP myself, it is impossible to make a half decent tune remotely without a Mike.

Thank you. Objective number one is to get the amp and sub(s) working as they should, no pops or crackles. Then I'll pivot to the tuning piece.

Finally installed the replacements subs and all is well. One sub was definitely defective from the factory. Now need to start tuning the DSP to find the best settings.
The amp combined with the subs produce a fairly significant improvement over the stock hi-fi set-up (using a canned Bimmertech tune). I play music mostly through my iPhone using Carplay and noticed that the volume/ loudness after the amp was installed wasn't what I was expecting. If you use an iPhone and Carplay, I highly recommend you turn off the "Sound Check" feature (under settings/ music). It makes a pretty big difference in loudness. |

You should watch this video and download the pdf, it helped me a lot to familiarize myself with my system. If you read this first, it's the DSP manual, so the CAT-BUG explanations will be familiar to you. https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/medi...l_Vol2_Web.pdf https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/k...e/DSP-PC-Tool/ |
