Recently started getting the “key battery empty” message on my idrive and it started to kinda of lose function slowly, so I replaced the battery. Ever since I replaced the battery in the key fob the car has been really inconsistent in detecting the key to the point where it’s like every other time I come to the car it won’t unlock when I pull the handle, or if I remote start the car and get in to actually turn the car on it doesn’t detect the key and turns off. Tried disconnecting and re connecting the key fob in idrive but didn’t really do much. Anyone experience this? I’m tuned so it could also just be my software being so outta date, but the timing is just weird to me.

Had the same message re key battery. Swapped the battery and all ok except comfort access wouldn’t unlock the car but it would lock as I walked away.
After trying various things I got another battery for the fob and it now works. Oddly when I put a test meter on both batteries the only difference was 0.01 volts between the good battery and the faulty one.

This was one of my theory’s because I bought some super cheap pack of batteries off amazon and I thought maybe they just have super shitty current or something, but lately it stopped doing it ever since I bought new AirPods instead of using a fake case cause my case broke on my previous set 😭. Idk how those two things correlate, but been good so far so not complaining 😭

I had that issue when the dealer replaced the key fob battery for me. I ended up just buying my own CR battery, energizer and those issues went away. I would recommend to install another new battery just in case the one in there is not totally at 100% capacity.

This sounds so fucking dumb, but I stg it was because of this knock off airpod case I was using. My case died so I had to buy this cheap one off Amazon, got fed up with it and ended up just buying another pair and the problem magically disappeared 😭
