I’ve seen a post on this already which describes a similar issue to mine, but it doesn’t seem to have any solutions.

Basically, about half the time after I start my car (2021 330i), when using carplay the album art and song info doesnt display properly in iDrive. This in itself isn’t too annoying, but what is annoying is the fact that when this happens, I cant use the steering wheel controls (or console controls) to skip my songs, and the song queue wont display on my HUD. The only fix I’ve found is to switch my phone connection to bluetooth and then back to carplay, but this gets really annoying to do every other time i start my car. My mom’s 2024 X3 does not seem to have this issue.

Anyone have solutions? I’ve already HARD rebooted iDrive, but still no dice. Do I need to update iDrive or something?

BTW, not sure if it matters but my phone is an iPhone 15 Pro Max on ios 18 (but i also got this issue on ios 17).

I have the same issue where controlling Carplay music stops working. There probably isn't a permanent fix since it's a connection issue. I've found that holding the volume button down for 30-40 seconds to restart iDrive will reset the connection and temp fix.

I usually disconnect my phone connection in iDrive and reconnect for it to work. Here’s hoping they fix it in the next update.
