Intake moves?

Installed the Tactic Motorsports cold air intake. The entire intake can move. The installer let me know that it’s normal but I can definitely tell that something isn’t right. Can anyone confirm if the intake pipe is supposed to be able to freely move or if it’s supposed to be stationary?

The turbo inlet has a little play in it, so if the intake doesn't have a bracket or some other method of mounting it to the car, it will move a bit. The factory intake has 3 mounting points inside the engine bay. It looks like your intake, specifically the heat shield, utilizes one of them down inside, as well as another mounting point on top. I imagine the intake tube has some play in it because it doesn't mount to the heat shield.

Post a video showing how much the intake moves, if you can.

That looks similar to the intake we sell. There Should be a rubber grommet that goes around the inside of the heat shield to prevent it from moving.

See our installed photo. Ours does not move.

I found that it’s loose from below. I’m definitely missing the grommet but there’s a factory part that is loose. Trying to find the name of it and it’s hard to take a quick picture of.

That amount of movement seems like what you'd expect from an intake that is only being supported by the turbo inlet.

Yeah I was guessing that as well. Not sure why touched the inlet though unless they replaced it as well.

Quick side note, thanks again for your exhaust. Heads turn everywhereeeeee.

My research leads me to believe they might of had to lightly bend it to get the intake on. During this they could of damaged the piece and just left it. It is what it is. This is just an excuse for me to try out front mounting the intake.

Intakes are very straight forward and super easy to install. Soemthing is definately disconnected or missing. Not sure why you chose the tactic over the Mad or other comon ones.

Honestly, saw a YouTube video on it and it sounded great. I figured out that the inlet is loose. Installer bent it a bit during installation. Need a new one now.

You should be able to find it locally or online. Just measure the material thickness.

Example below.
