Does anyone know if - or how - the maps in the App are updated automatically? Or at all? Or perhaps at the same time as my car is updated?
I live on a new estate - over 2 years old- which still doesn't show in App or car maps. But I live in hope the 2022 update will include it!

That's a good question!

As a pure guess, I would have thought the map data would be pulled from the server (and not local to your phone) so whatever you see in the app is the most up to date maps available.

Not sure how it works as far as new roads. My new build appeared on a map update a few months after the street was finished. Was surprised as its a small development in the middle of nowhere...

As far as I can tell the car maps and the app maps are unrelated (although they might use the same base data). The app is using a web service from Here maps, and you can report map omissions via this form: https://www.here.com/contact

Our estate was built within the last 2 months and the App looks up to date as per Google Maps about 1 month ago based on progress.

Pretty good Id say.

EDIT just been back to Google and the BMW app map I way more up to fate maybe 3 months so.

An update! I used the HERE App to update the App Maps after seeing this post in February. I had to walk around our new estate in the middle of the road with phone in hand. The App map finally showed our new house nearly 6 months later. Alteration to house numbers on another estate I did at the same time via HERE also came through simultaneously.
But the mapping in my car still shows us parking in a field! Maybe the next update for mapping in my car contain the update??
But 3 years to get App maps upto date - but still not in my car. I find this quite shocking.
( luckily I know where I live!)
