19s are ok but 20s look better IMO. Then again, I’m biased because my F80 M3 Comp and GT-R both came with 20” wheels. Actually, I think the 20s look a little big on my M3, but the M340i looks like a bigger car and the 20s seem to suit it well.

With either 19" or 20", it needs to be lowered! That wheel gap is ridiculous. I parked next to a newer Lexus ES350, today, and it had less wheel gap.

I think it's the wheel gap that makes them look smaller.

792M 19" look too small, wheel gap is too much on the G20, tires should be wider, wheel design makes it look smaller?

maybe a lowered m340 will look better with the 19's

I agree with you however I am hesitant to lower this car although I lowered my G35 Sedan.

If you just lower with springs you have a bouncy ride but corners amazing. Then you later need to change out suspension parts because they wear out faster.

Or you can go Coilovers but I don't know any that are out yet.

I am hung up on deciding to lower or not lower

I know BMW has very very good suspension already so I am not sure on a $70K brand new car I want to mess with that.

What do you guys think?

I agree. I went 19" with a taller tire. Don't want to change the ride characteristics to reduce the gap by 1" or less. Taller tire splits the difference. Way to go based on your reasonable concerns.

I've often lowered my cars, just a bit. I'm not a fan of the huge wheel gap they've had the past few generations. As well, it does handle a little better. I think it depends on the brand of springs, in regards to changing the ride dynamics. Through research on the forum, I've been able to make great decisions from what others have tried. Unfortunately, for this car, I'll have to go on previous experiences with different brands, as nothing has been tried, yet.

I also plan to lower my future m340, but not with springs only. Did it with my F32 and was not satisfied.
As you say, nothing is out yet but as I plan to do it after the winter, there should be something ready by then.
Wrote to KW, and they told me coilovers for m340 should be out by then...

the stock 19's badly need spacers. the problem is they just sit too far inboard. once they are spaced out they look the right size.

I would have to agree with this. Most of us purchased BMW's because we trust and know the brand and the cars drive amazing!!!

Now if you go and screw around with a bunch of stuff thinking your smarter than the BMW team than good luck.

I have made a few mistakes in my day modifying cars so I know from experience the wheel size is critical to how the car drives and handles.

A 20" wheel is the absolute MAX I would consider on these cars and only if I live in an area with no potholes and no cold weather with snow/ice and salt.

19's look good but I wish the car was .5" lower or .75" lower maybe a full 1" lower.

If we go with the coilovers from KW which is my plan if I lower do I also need to worry about my tires wearing out as quickly as springs?

Is there a way to adjust camber on coilovers so your tires dont wear on the insides so fast?

I also don't want the bouncy ride that you get from springs.

Eventually with springs the shocks wear out also quicker so you get even worse of a ride in 3-4 years with springs.

Is coilovers way better?

A taller tire means your speed is understated as well as mileage. It's also higher unstrung weight so it might make it slower.

It's not a question of being smarter than bmw.
BMW team set up cars that will satisfy a majority of people. A 80 year old driver may think standard suspensions are too hard, a 20 y old guy will think it's too soft, etc
Good coilovers enable you to set up the car exactly how you want it.
In my country the roads are as flat as a board, so I am not worried at all...

I lowered my current 435 and did 40'000 km (25k miles) with my summer tires !

Have your modified by specialists and you won't be disappointed.

Lower mileage not a bad thing but my gps speed is not noticeably different. As far as being slower, in theory yes with tune no :-)

Hey man. Can you give me your opinion on which tires are "beefy" in your opinion? I have a 2019 330i xDrive and I'm torn between just putting summer tires on the stock 18" or getting a whole 19" setup. Strictly for summer use.

I take that back, a little. 20’s still look good but I recently saw an M340i with 19” wheels with some fat tires on a lowered suspension and it looked great. 255/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear on 19x9 and 19x10 wheels.

I thought 19s would look too small, but when I put my aftermarket wheels it made me change my mind.
Here's a couple photos
