Precisely my point. This is my only vehicle, and I much prefer to drive a car most of the time with a sleek body style and low center of gravity. The hatchback/sportback allows me to cram larger items in when necessary, which isn't that often. I was able to stick two giant washer/dryer pedestal boxes in my S5 Sportback, and there's *no way* that would have been possible with a regular trunk. As you say, I don't need it most of the time, but it's there when I need it.
Good point!

The test mule have some kind of opening in the corners under the bumpers ( under the headlights). The M4 GT3 teaser drawing have lights there. Anyone care to take a guess if the shape will be similar on the G22/G82 and if it will be a vent or even a light?

That's exactly the reason why I don't want a truck or an SUV. I want a car but having the ability to carrier larger items is really handy. I got a good deal on a GC so I got one instead of a 3er. I didn't think much of it at the time but since then I've hauled 20 bags of mulch, several large filing cabinets, and several office chairs with it. No way would I have been able to fit those in a car without a liftback; I would have had to rent a truck.

Yeah, I'm always surprised at how much stuff I can fit into my GC and how much easier it is putting large items in and taking them out. I really hope they make a M version to compete with the RS5 Sportback.

We often agree (NoMoreBMWs) on Audi too, but quite frankly I think the M440i will be quicker than the RS5.

Based on the photos from last month, ...is this new Gran Coupe getting the long(er) wheelbase in the same way the 8 Series cars do?

It kinda seems that way, but I can't tell...

If I was in the market for a spacious 4 door BMW - which I'm not - I'd get a 5 series LCI rather than this latest 4 GC. They managed not to ruin the 5 with an oversized grille when they designed the LCI (unlike the 7). The key elements of the front end - lights, intakes, grille etc - are all in proportion, give or take. It doesn't make me wince when I look at it. The front end of the latest 4GC however is simply DIRE. I really can't think of any other way of putting it.

After some months since the last sighting, the 4 Series Gran Coupe prototype has been spotted again, with less camouflage than before.

tough to tell with camo but looks more of a cross between GC and old GT which is probably why they axed the GT. Not a good thing, to me you either go coupe look or go full wagon, would be okay with either, don't want something between a GC and wagon...

Guessing no M4GC, looks like maybe instead of the M4 version they decided the electric would be a good fit. who knows maybe that i80 will give M performance, I bet the 5-60 could beat my X3M because of no lag.

I don't remember if it was confirmed but will the GC be as large as the last 3GT (extended wheelbase) or will it be the size of a normal 3/4-series?

I think it was pretty much confirmed that the i4 and the G26 will run on the long-wheel-base G2x platform. Obviously not officially from BMW yet, as there has been no start of communication I believe.

brand was diluted a long time ago when they started making fwd cars. at this point we are just watching what they do next. the ultimate driving machine mantra is dead.

The mesh over the lower part of the grill vastly improves the front end.

Why has there been no posts about the literal next-gen 7 series next to it? I’ve seen a few other pics of it elsewhere but never on here.

The new GC 440 looks a bit chubby from certain angles.
