Exactly, they already look garbage on the LCI 7er, almost like an underbite/buck tooth.

Makes no sense.
The 5 LCI headlights are very close to the 7 LCI headlights, which makes perfect sense to me.

The 4 headlights are somewhat similar to the 2 coupe headlight, which also makes sense to me.

But they are no longer round shaped or semi round.
Just generic crap that can be mistaken for VW, Lexus, Audi etc especially at night.

Its like Nike altering their swoosh and making it a straight line lol

Totally agree. It seems like a small thing but it's not. I'm in NV so no front plates but feel bad for those that have to run one. They make any front end look bad lol. Maybe with all the electronic safety gadgets they're putting on the front of cars now other states will jump on board and not require one.

There are currently 19 states in the U.S. that do not require a front plate. If you live in one of those states always remember to give specific instruction to dealer when ordering a car to NOT drill your front end and attach a plate holder. Many dealers will do this automatically. That happened to me one time and pissed me off royally.
I had this happen with my 535d. It was scooped up from the port that someone backed out of. When I walked around the front during delivery I almost came unglued. I told them the deal was off and their jaws hit the floor. Couldn't understand it from my perspective. They ended up throwing a couple hundred bucks at me so I put a nice black chrome plate on it and lived with it for the lease. Now I emphasize to my dealership(s) if they are doing a DX that they need to make damn well certain there is no front tag holder installed or they'll be sitting with a DX'd car and no deal. I feel for those that require front plates!

There are companies now that make low profile color coded plugs to fill the holes left from plate holders. Not as good as OEM stock but better than 4 holes in your bumper. Funny thing is dealers think they are doing you a favor when they drill your bumper. Regarding the new G series grills I have to think there will be some type of clamp on removable plate holder. Or you can zip tie it...

Also the 5er and 4er are not on the same timetables... I think it goes 7er first, then 5er etc... The 7er LCI already had the "cubical" angel eyes before the 5er LCI. I'm sure you'll see the new 5er "cubical" angel eye design on the 4er LCI.

This. Of all the changes, this cerium-everything bugs me the most. It really forces you to change your spec because it doesn't easily go well with some colours like chrome does or black.

Maybe they want you to purchase the M performance grille.

It's a brilliant design, grill and all. The problem is that people are rarely prepared to appreciate true genius when it's presented.

The grille looks more sculpted and "expensive" (for lack of a better word) than I was expecting so that's good. Still worried the headlights are gonna be massive though. I'm curious how they're going to do the profile. I imagine it will be very similar to the concept, but it just didn't look very BMW...

Even the camera man has to cast a shadow to hide the lower end of those fucking ugly grills. I'm usually very open to new designs, but for the love of God I can't accept this. This is the end of BMW. They can't make good looking cars on the same level as Audi or Benz.

True genius! I would expect the designer to use those words.

Never thought that accessing the engine bay would be easier through the front grills then the hood.
God those things are atrocious...

Believe me, it won't be the end for them. They will sell a lot of them and you and everyone else thats knocking them will move on to another brand and BMW will take on a new generation of enthusiasts.

It doesn't work. The rest of the car is an evolution and I think the proportions aren't bad--even the taillights work when you look at the headlights and overall flow. I still think the lack of Hoffmeister kink is unacceptable but still..

The issue is the grille just doesn't work with the other design elements. It breaks the otherwise pretty reasonable flow with a forced element.

I'm glad someone posted the E53 which by comparison looks a lot more German. Understated and reserved but still aggressive.

Exactly. If Kia released this we would be making fun of them for being tryhards. But this is BMW fanboy forum after all. In the end BMW can do what they want with coupes. The sale of (actual 2 door) coupes probably doesn't move their revenue needle. As long as the SUVs keep flying off the shelves, shareholders won't care how bad they butcher the 3 series heritage.
