The grille is the least of the styling problems with this car, IMO.

There was no reason to discard the hofmeister kink. No reason to start the new bland kink from the front door window line upwards. No reason for the generic rear taillights, bumper, and trunk line. No reason for the bland side profile. The 8-Series have most of these styling changes and still look better and modern than the old 6-Series. But somehow this was styled to be un-BMW.

This looks to me like a styling made for the Chinese market with the hope that it sells elsewhere.

The same boring and repetitive talking points from the ass brigade in full force.

BMW simply doesn't care what you think. They will sell each and everyone they make.

If you lament the new direction don't buy one. Pretty simple really.

Hold on to your F32 or whatever. If nostalgia fill your brain there many old BMWs to have in the used market. They are old and dated BMWs after all.

Better yet there are other manufacturers that will surely meet your strict demands and expectations.

Just move on!

Sorry. Not for me........I was holding out for this new style to launch to decide if I'll order the new M4. But if it has this styling I'm not onboard. It's just ugly!

Now I have to decide on "Plan B" .... maybe a M2 CS....

At a time when people are protesting over racial discrimination, why are you blaming the Chinese for this design? Please enlighten us of the Chinese market study that says the Chinese prefer cars with gigantic beaver-tooth grills, bland kinks, generic rear taillights and bland side profile?

Both the Chinese and NA markets are to blame as Hooydonk has stated (with the 7-series launch) that the NA and Chinese market prefer looks that stand out more while Europe prefers a more understated look, thus why the 7er received its more "prominent" grill, as NA and China are the largest markets of the 7er. I expect the same excuse can be used here on the 4er. So technically both the Chinese and North American market are the reasons for BMW overcompensating on their designs.

BMW will have more customer due to this. It's a great car, looks good, will handle great.

Still not happy w choices, move up to an M5 or M8.

Lamenting a grill or how a front plate in north america will look like.

Is there no bigger problems right now in the world, especially in America.

Car is great, looks good, its a BMW will be like this and it is fantastic.
Not to assume what's in people's wallets, but I'm betting that the people in the market for this car aren't going to be in the market for an M8.

The G22 is the 996 911 for BMW!
thats exaclty what many said about 6 years ago when the 4 series GC was introduced... Now many of the "haters" are modding the GC. So this will happen again, people will say negative comments, and before you know it they will have a G22 all modded, praissing other for their mods, and they would have forgotten that at one point they were claiming that in this lifetime they would not get the 2021 4 series.

Ok here you go. This is about the large grilles for the 7-series but one can assume that these thoughts carried through to the new 4-series.

I point and laugh at X4's, X6's, and all GT variants that BMW makes. I will be adding the new 4 series to that list.

Good grief, talk about ugly. Shame really, rear end looks nice.

Hurts to think about the upcoming M3/M4. Looks like those of us blessed with vision may need to opt for a used M5 or M8

Those cars you laugh at all have the same bastardized "Hofmeister" double-kink thing :/

Well I guess the X6 actually has the most normal one of all of those...

Not my cup of tea at all. Please, for the love of all that’s holy, don’t do any of this dumb shit to the next M2.

It’s the only hope we have left for the direction the brand is going.

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. In any case, I have moved on.

That doesn’t sound like the best business plan to me, from someone who has had 8 Bimmers previously.

Can they replicate that kind of loyalty going forward? With this kind of design and overall approach? My guess is no, but we shall see.
