G22 side profile compared to earlier generation coupes

Evolutinary or revolutionary?

To me the G22 looks more like an evolutionary design to the E92 than from the F32.

If the g22 had the same front bumper as the g20, I would buy it in a heart beat the side looks good. Its too bad the grill ruined everything

Styling is way too Asian for me, when I look at all of those cars together the new 4er looks like the one that doesn't belong.

The new 4 looks like a BMW knock off. BMW traits are disappearing with each generation and that's a bad thing.

Horrible pictures of E46 and E92. Yet still the most horrible picture is the G22. Absolutely hideous. SAD!

I'm really not a fan of how the window line suddenly starts going up after the B pillar, it messes up what remains of the Hoffmeister Kink and also just leaves too much metal between the bottom of the window and the wheel arches. And to my eyes the hip and center lines also just look bizarre, especially where they overlap.

I wasn't a fan of the mega fastback profile of the F32 compared to the E coupés but this is another step back from that. The only angle I think this car looks decent in is the rear 3/4s

The lines are not as aggressive as my F32. What I'm really interested in is what the Grand Coupe will look like.

Notice how the horizontal line along the top of the door extends from A to the C-pillar but on the new model the line between B and C pillar move upwards. Because it moves upwards the characteristic Hoffmeister-kink...disappears

The rear window is tiny now but the lack of Hoffmeister kink is there actually a need to take it out other than to be different / controversial?

I actually really like the new design. But I want to punch the designer that got rid of the Hofmeister Kink. There was zero reason for that.

The side profile just makes me think Honda Accord Coupe, circa 2007. The back side is the best part of the G22. Previous picture of a G22 in all black with black grills doesn't look as bad.

It has Audi A/S/RS5 side profile, and a similar c pillar.

The Audi forums are in total laughter currently.

The entire internet is in total laughter. BMW has become a laughing stock with their current design language.

Not really. I for one absolutely adore the new design. Finally something new, refreshing, and not the same old, same old. And finally really a lot different than the 3 series. The 4 has become its own car with this.

Also, I really think the pic in the opening post doesn't do the car justice. Take this:

All criticism aside, I can really appreciate the effort to do this. At least for one generation the 4 was seen as just a 2 door 3er. It still is but with the design, you would think it was a completely different car. If I walk into an Audi or Mercedes dealership, it's a sea of the same car, different lengths. With BMW moving forward, each model is going to be different than the other which is very refreshing.

I was referring to the public. Every article or other automaker's fan base has pretty much made fun of the looks. I have yet to see a positive headline.
