That color is stunning! I can see how the color can shift depending on the lighting. Well cool thing is you shouldn't have to wait too much longer. October halfway through! What do you think about M performance parts? I was contemplating about it...

Prior to owning the m440, I had a 2020 M340.

Some things to mention to prospective owners:

-M440 no longer has gesture control (discontinued?)
-M440 no longer has a leather wrapped airbag cover
-The exhaust note seems mild. The M340 was louder and with more burbles and pops.
-M440 key fob feels cheap. The M340 key fob had weight to it. In my opinion it gave it a more premium feel.

I assume some of this may be a result of cost-cutting from BMW. I just wanted to share this for the community. The 440 is an amazing car. It handles like a precision tool and is a blast to drive. It feels faster than the 340, and it may be due to that mild hybrid system. The car has instant acceleration.

I'm coming from a 2021 540, so I'll let everyone know if I see a difference as well.

Gesture controls were a PITA., IMO Both my dad and GF talk with their hands and they were always shutting the radio off...lol

I was thinking of the carbon front lip, aero flicks, and rear carbon spoiler. Although these parts have become super expensive. I had M performance parts on the M340 (attached here) I traded in for the 440. The front splitter, rocker panels, and spoiler did give it a more aggressive appearance.

You can see the M parts showcased on a non-LCI version here:

Looks cool, but probs not. M performance (cosmetic) are really of no interest. If I'm going to spend add'l $$$ it would be on a MPE or something that would improve performance. I like the carbon fiber a lot, but went with the open pore Ash blue gray interior. If I had gone Dravit grey and CF, I might have considered these options.

What are you guys doing for spare tires? There was no option to order a spare tire for the M440i GC. I always add spare tires during ordering.

My vehicle is on run-flat tires. I've never purchased a spare. Although, when I had Pirelli tires I was constantly having to get new ones. The M440 came with Bridgestone branded tires. I'm hoping these will fare better long-term.

Off topic

While I wait for my M440, I've use the time to read about ceramic coatings and got my 540 ready for a buddy who's buying it. I also got a quick practice session using a clay mitt and ceramic spray. I'll never use wax again!

That looks sick!! I think I should have done something for mine. I already got a few minor rock chips. These highways are unforgiving. But then again I heard mixed things about PPF. My OCD is driving me crazy....once I see it, I see it🤣 🤣

And while you're waiting for what awaits you 😉😉. And you did that all yourself? What's a reasonable price for a ceramic coating? I'm not skilled with that stuff at all haha

Prices were all over the place here (southeastern MA), but mostly from 1250 to 2500. I heard some horror stories about a few detailers just washing the car and putting the coating on.

I took advantage of a fall special in Sept with a mobile company who will do the work in my garage so I can watch the process (you aren't the only OCD person on this thread!) and booked a "Silver" package with 6 year warranty for $1350 which includes the glass. Got a $300 discount and added in the wheels for $199, so $1250 all in!

They detailed my GF's car a week ago and did a great job. I watched and learned (I bought all the gear for the detail I did on the 540 after watching them) and will watch again when they apply the ceramic. The young man who is going to ceramic coat my car was present for the detail and he outlined specifically what he'll be doing. Sounded correct; wash, clay bar, decontamination rinse etc.

It's an all day process but best of all, I can ceramic coat the interior leather and fabric /plastics while he's doing the car and I don't lose the car for three days!!

My ship is due in NY this Sunday. I'm excited to say the least!!!

Congratulations! I hope to see some day 1 pictures soon when you pick it up.

I'm still a little salty that we ordered ours on the same day and mine appears to be about a month behind yours in progress!

I'm with you about being OCD about this stuff lol. I happened upon a quote recently that has helped me decide not to do PPF, maybe it'll help you:

Don't let what you own, own you.

I have an appointment for a professional to add a ceramic coating to my car, but I got a rock chip in the hood a couple days ago. So I started thinking about PPF under the ceramic, but the issue with that is if I end up getting a big enough rock that hits the PPF (I do a ton of highway driving) and the PPF tore, even if it did its job and protected the paint, I couldn't live with a PPF tear gathering dirt. I'd have to get the ceramic buffed off, the PPF removed, PPF reapplied, ceramic reapplied...and the PPF + ceramic is so much money..

In the end, that quote helped me decide to skip the PPF and not let the car own me (and my finances) in that way, and just do the ceramic that I originally planned on. When I inevitably get more rock chips through the ceramic, I will just use some OEM touch up paint from the dealer

I ordered 8/3 and was given an allocation for build week 39 (the week the car is done). Were you ever given an allocation with a speicfic build week when you ordered?

They took the allocation from a sister dealership, else I would have had to wait for one.

...and not to rub salt into your wound, but dealership contacted today and told me to expect delivery by 10/31

I appreciate all the information! It sounds like I made the right choice by avoiding PPF. I know these are cars are meant to be driven spiritedly 😁. I'm just going to enjoy it and try not to hyper focus on small imperfections. But yeah, I'm glad I'm not alone in my OCD. I may look into the ceramic coating to keep it looking glossy. What's a reasonable price for Ceramic coating?
