The standard LED lights are not adaptive, right?

It appears that I need to get the Laser headlights (only available bundled with the Executive package in the US), which use laser only for the high beam, in order to get the adaptive LED low beam.

Is my understanding correct?

The standard LED lights are not adaptive, but the optional “LED with Multiple Function” are. You do not need to get the Laser headlights for that.

I don’t think U.S has this option. Laser headlights are the only upgrade offered.

Yes that's correct. Must get Executive package for adaptive lights

Executive Package gets you laser lights, which are adaptive.

But to get adaptive LED's (which are a step up from standard LED's), you don't need Executive Package. You only need Convenience Package or M Sport Package.

So M340i M-sport is standard so LED is adaptive by default? BMW site doesn’t clearly state this in spec.

Yea. Code 5A4 is for Adaptive LED's. You can read which equipment is standard on the M340 by checking out the below thread and relevant PDF's:

Hi guys,

When I looked up those lights for the M340i, it said "LED headlights with cornering lights" which doesn't sound like they are adaptive at all. Hope I'm wrong. I'll find out in around 30 days when my M340i (hopefully) arrives sans laser lights.

That is part of adaptive. The beam follows the road / steering movement. Also is there an extra side facing led that lights up the inside of sharp turns and several other situations.

All without use of the fog lights.

Yep. I agree the ordering guide doesn’t really describe it best.
