Door handle NFC stopped working

I got the digital car key, and both my android phone & key card used to work perfectly (both opening doors and starting car)

Now all of sudden both my phone and keycard can't unlock the door anymore when I tap them on the handle, any tips before I need to call up the BMW dealer?
(Both them still works fine when I use them to put on the mobile tray to start car, so I assume the digital key linking is still working)

I had that issue a while back. I wasn't too bothered though since I rarely use the key card. I waited a few days and tried again and it worked. Has worked perfectly since.

It still didn't work today, so I went on to deactivate both digital keys in the car and activate then again. The keycard activated ok, and I tried using it to unlock & start car fine.

However, I'm stuck when I went on to activate the mobile one. I went through the BMW mobile app to install digital key again and got up to the activate stage Then I follow the instructions on the car iDrive to activate key and it asks me to put the phone on tray, I put the phone on tray and it's not picking anything up. It just keep on waiitng for a phone and time out.

I'm not sure I fully understand the benefits of the digital key. If you have the keyfob on your body (i.e. pocket), doesn't it serve the same purpose? Sorry if I'm missing the point of it.

Yes. If you have your fob on you, it's pointless. If you don't, it can be useful.

Then you have the connected drive app on your phone to unlock your car. The card can be used ro turn on the engine even if it doesn't unlock the door. But God forbid, you're somewhere were your phone doesn't have network.....

I don't trust the card. I only use it when the car is at home and the keyfob is upstairs but my wallet is downstairs and I need to move the car to take the trash cans out

LOL. So THAT is what the card key is for. Makes sense now.

Pretty similar for me lol, the mobile is usually always with me and it's quick to go to garage to get something from the car with it without hunting for the key in the house

I don't have digital key enabled but yesterday and today my door handles kept locking and unlocking as I was opening the door. They didn't auto lock when I walked away either. What's goin on?

The NFC and phone combo is great - I use it quite often however the additional comfort access features of the main key are still superior - like proximity unlocking and opening the boot with the foot kick sensor. None of that is possible with the NFC keys.

I don't carry the fob at all. I carry my phone everywhere. One less thing to keep up with. I love it

Hmm, I guess I'm just too old school and prefer to have my keys. Same reason why I continue to wear watches
