Pretty big difference between 330 and 340i. I was hoping 330 will be around 280-300.
Also, no RWD on the 340! Forum meltdown in 3,2,1...

Can this be considered official? No manual transmission for the M340 nor a RWD version of it?

All terrible news for me, personally. I'm sure others may or may not care.

Forum meltdown indeed!!

What is BMW turning into KIA now? KIA is doing the same thing with the Stinger GT. Offering a manual transmission on the lower Stinger model but no manual on the higher performance GT.

Is nothing sacred anymore BMW?!

It may come as a surprise to some that not every BMW buyer lives in SoCal . Or any sunny and dry place for that matter. Where I live, I'm ultra happy to rely on 4 wheel drive in my 370+ BHP car. With only rear wheels being powered, I'd need to use other means of transportation on more than 50% of days in a year (rain, snow)

The future is awful. Manual transmission will be dead and so will the joy of driving. This sucks.

Damn the new 340 has 380hp that's more than the current m2 ... pretty interesting does that mean newer M2 will get more power?

No MT for the 330i or the 340i? Well, I am done with BMW, that's for sure. Keep you overpriced Toyota-wannabe to yourself.

I love my manual transmission car, unfortunately my commute has me already sold on an auto for my next car as sad as it may be.

M340i seems to be the obvious pick for me. Unless I can afford the M3

Let’s hope the m5 awd system moves to the m340i with selectable rwd. Even with the extra 125 lbs, the awd is faster than a rwd in 335 and 340 now. That gap only grows as the awd adds less weight and the hp grows.

Why is this a surprise to anyone? BMW has been heading his direction for years. My sales guy mentioned that they've been advised to not order manual 3ers and 4ers outside of the M's for over a year now.

And what are your options? The A4 is available with a manual, but not the S or RS versions. No MB has a manual (thankfully.) Jaguar and Alfa threatened manuals but backed down in the end. The ATS has a manual in slow and fast versions and an LSD, but resale is horrible as is the interior.

So pretty much you're left with the F80 for a little while or holding out hope that the G series M3 will offer a manual, which it probably won't.

If AWD is standard on 340, expect it to be around the weight of a a current rwd 340i.

Looks like I'll be keeping my 17 340 then. No rwd or 6 speed manual trans ?? BMW is turning into every other manufacture. Just saw the new x2 at my dealer yesterday. Yea it looks good but it's also coming with an option for fwd. Death of auto enthusiasts if you ask me

No way it actually loses weight, like for like. They'll add in new features to offset any body in white weight loss. We'll be lucky if the G20 M340i is under 3,800 lbs.

No manual with the big engines simply because the demand is not there.
