Nice. Thanks for the info.

I installed the BMS ones but I wondered how the original ones were tighten to the frame. The BMS strut braces are tighten using bolt and nuts which are difficult to reach and may fall into the engine bay if needed to remove.

For the bolts in the strut tower you had to open thread to tighten the bolts?

Can you share with us the part numbers of the different parts used?

Here is a picture of mine G21 330i:

Strut : The hole has nothing, as you mentioned, but the bolt can creat new screw tap by itself when it tightened …

Front frame : changed by M440i strut which has nut itself (parts no : 51648491817)

After installing, had droven about 200km so far .. short note :

Under Adaptive suspension

Confort & Adaptive mode : more stable, uncomfortable yawing disapeared ..
Sports mode : a little harsh on bumpy road .. (depends on how confort you want to be)

Exactly what I felt on my G21 after installing the strut bars.

I expected that the front bar would be from a g22. Is it a difficult swap? I may change this as using bolts and nuts is a pain on the left side...

Regarding the strut towers, it was not necessary to use some special tool? Only by tightening the screw it created the thread? Interesting...

I would recommend you use a thread tap to cut the bolt threads into the strut tower mount. I do not know the thread pitch at this time but I will update my post once I received the parts (in early Apr).

If you do install these parts, do not forget about the 4 bolts (#10) that attach the front brace (#1). These bolts are noted as single use only - 07147270121

What is the purpose of changing out the front brace?

I love an OEM+ "modification" - great work!

Please refer to Steve_Jr's 2nd picture. Our G20 front brace does not have the "nut" welded in place.

Thanks for good advice. But you can do bolt threads by bolt itself …

Getting ready to pull the trigger on these parts... anyone else done the install? Trying to figure out if the self tapping of the screws is worth the risk. Are the screws easily removable going this route?

That said, can anyone recommend a good thread tap and know the pitch that is needed?

Hey larrylam646, did you get your parts in and installed? Curious as to your findings on threading in the strut tower mount.

Unfortunately, not yet. The online retailer from which I ordered the parts could not give me an eta on the parts. Currently not available. My dealer confirmed status of the parts and suggested I check-back in June/July.

Did you guys see the braces (not the CF cross brace) from the 'new' X3M? Would these work in a G20? I like the finished look much more than the bare metal from the 4er.

I have done this install last week with all OEM parts, it is really straight forward if you follow the procedure posted in this thread. The longest part is tapping the threads but its still not very hard. Sorry I did not check what tap I used, I only matched it with the bolt and went to do it. I sprayed some ani-rust in the bolt holes before threading the bolts.

Impressions: To me the suspension seems more compliant in a way that it seems to do more work than before, less chassis resonance/flexing occurs. Steering seems a touch more precise mostly in sport modes.

I would highly recomend this mod as the price is pretty cheap, If you want to save money you can buy only the 2 aluminium parts and use bolts and nuts at the front to secure them but I wanted the OEM look and convenience when you need to remove them.

I ordered some Dinan monoballs for the front control arms, combined with the brace the car should get a significant bump in steering feel and precision.

Thanks for the write-up PLF69 . What anti-rust spray did you use?

larrylam646, did you ever do the install? What tap did you use? I don't have a tap set and I really don't want to buy a whole set. LOL

Thanks guys.
