2 questions about my M340i

Had the car for a month, and it's beyond what I expected compared to my F30.

1. I always switch from comfort to Sport as needed. (The MPE is great even in comfort, and the power is so much better in comfort compared to the F30). Question is: How many of you use Adaptive? I ran it in adaptive all day yesterday and noticed nothing different.

2. Can someone explain the LSD. I can tell this car takes hard turns SO much better! I assume the rear differential is putting more power to the outside wheels in the turn, etc.

Thanks for any answers.

I use adaptive all the time. You do not notice it so it works. Why? It does its job. It adapts to your driving situation. If you are cruising and your road is bumpy. It goes soft. When it senses you are maneuvering or cornering. It stiffens on its own. I find Adaptive in between Comfort and Sport's plus when it comes to settings.

2, You answered your question. It helps with torque distribution while cornering.

I use adaptive very often. I don’t even see any reason to use comfort as if you drive soft in adaptive mode (don’t push the throttle too hard, turn slowly, etc) it stays in comfort mode anyway. But when you start pushing, you will immediately notice that it will hold the gears longer, and if you do a fast turns (like driving fast on a winding road) suspension will stiffen as well.

LSD is pretty much what you explained. Outer wheels get more power which makes you turn better. It’s very noticeable on highway ramps.

Is the optional 330 LSD the same as in the 340?

I switch to adaptive all the time, as you mostly drive same routes (work and errands) car learns preferences and the road ahead.

Not sure if driving in adaptive mode affects learning, or car does it anyway in any mode?

Garage List
I coded mine to be in adaptive by default. If I need an extra boost I'll hit sport to throw it in S+.

I wasn't using adaptive till recently. I paid for it so i've been using it since last week. It beats switching from Eco to Sport and having the car adapt to how I drive. It is genius!

Thanks!

Since I've posted this months ago, I start in adaptive, then switch to sport on occasion. Especially if I want a little more sound from the MPE..
