Another vote for the Bilt Hamber foam. Doesn’t look as “impressive” but does a better job.

Hi. Does anyone use a dryer to dry car after a wash? If so, and they are worth using, any recommendations for a good reasonably priced one?

Would prefer a handheld one I think, and preferably not too noisy for the neighbours

Thanks

I'm buying one of these - just to get water out of the gaps. The most annoying thing about cleaning the G20 is the water lurking in the trim between the door and the window - you think it's dry and then you come out to drips and streaks, it's so annoying.

Next time I see a cheap Ryobi cordless(*) left bower in a sale I'll get one and turn it into a sawn-off! Perfect for drying the car. Probably put something soft around any parts that might accidentally clonk the car, too.

(*) I already have loads of other Ryobi tools, batteries, chargers, etc.

I've got one of these, the BlowR mini. Takes a bit of effort to blow water off large panels so I tend to use it on wheels, grills, mirrors, door handles etc but it's amazing for motorbikes and bikes.

What about a compressor, any reason why this wouldn't be a good way to dry those awkward parts of the car?

I read somewhere (maybe on here) that a compressor has the possibility of spraying small amounts of oil. Dunno how true that is.

well its not a G20 (or even a BMW) and I didnt do it myself... but it has been detailing weekend so what the hell....

after a bath, it was given a claybar decontamination then some work with an electrical thing to remove microswirls, then a full compement of Gtechniq stuff - CSL for the body and relevant stuff for wheels, glass and interior....

Do I sound like I have a clue? Anyway, it looks and feels very nice....

Hi. Quick newbie detailer question... if you upgrade to a short trigger, how do you regulate the pressure? I have a Karcher K4, but have never used it on full power for the car, always set it (via the lance) to medium/low.
And when you say proper hose, what did you go for? The default Karcher one does my head in constantly coiling up.

Thanks

I was looking at Directhoses.net but they didn't have the snow foam lance. I opted just to replace the hose for now as it was really winding me up last weekend. It seemed to be extra prone to tangling up.

See the 3 different coloured nozzles. They are different angles that vary the pressure in a similar way to the Vario lance. Seems to work really well. White is the widest angle so less forceful. I tend to use all of them depending on the differents part of the car and wash process.

I got the short trigger and 10m hose and best £50 I've spent on car washing stuff.

I went for the 10m hose. It was so annoying last weekend, I think it nearly tripped me up twice and had to keep stopping as the hose had got itself into one big knot.

I can see the short trigger would be a lot nicer.

How good is this at actually shifting water from larger areas?

I use a leaf blower, WORX Turbine with plug in cord, its an absolute beast, actually feel it pushing back when on. I chose a corded version as wasn't sure on battery life. You have to remember it works as good as the finish on the car. The better the finish the better the results. 20 mins and not a drip, no need for towel or cloth at all. If memory serves me right it was only around £40

I bought the BLO AIR-RS Car Dryer 5.5hp Compact Model.

It's a little noisy and a slow enough process but I'm very happy with it. Cost around €150.00

Anyone across the pond using Adam's Polishes? Heard a lot of good things, so I bought their Arsenal Kit w/ foam gun. Looking forward to using it this weekend...

Does it work ok in a normal socket? 5.5hp is over 4Kw so exceeds a 13amp socket.

i am looking at getting one but many of the models available are 5hp so am concerned they will trip the power?

You’re right so if it doesn’t trip a 13A socket they’re telling porkies with their power claims.

was that from directhoses.net? Seen some mixed reviews about the quality of the fittings on their hoses. Admittedly not particularly new, so wondered what your thoughts were. Thanks.
