It was posted previously but no one understands what PUMA is. This is what interests me:
"Only applies to vehicles with the production period: from March 1st, 2020 to November 1st, 2020" I wonder if this is really true. |

Keep in mind the PuMA was from Nov 2020 so the affected build dates may have changed. I reported this to BMW NA and so did my service techs, so there should be an SIB soonish.
Bottom line, the PuMA isn’t fully correct. It doesn’t affect JUST those cars with Live Cockpit Pro and it doesn’t always throw codes. It affects all models with the 65-12-5-A20-7E7 or 65-12-9-826-944 amps installed because they are underpowered or ill designed and the system isn’t properly regulating power to them (especially at startup with live cockpit pro for some reason) so on power surge they fail to a protected low power state. The new amp addresses this. Also, TIL: most Service Advisors / Techs don’t know what PuMA measures are. Apparently that system is deprecated in the US. |

They likely replaced it with the old amp model again, versus the new replacement that specifically addresses the issue. If I had to guess.

I had similar issue and during diagnosis they couldn't find any faulty codes, but still I had mine replaced a couple weeks ago & originally they told me the part has to come from Germany it will take at least a few weeks to a month, but the next day they told me they have a part available in already. So, I have questioned them are you sure this will fix the issue? Also asked them to make sure they are just not replacing a new faulty amp manufactured in Mexico, they said per the description its an upgraded amp. So after replacing that amp till now everything sounds ok (but I haven't driven a lot in the past two weeks). Hoping that the problem is permanently resolved. |

Ahh those HK amps are being manufactured in Mexico. They do have factories down there and didn't think about that. Not that that's an excuse for the issues. Hopefully your problem is resolved now.

All over other forums, im in the X3,
The system is RAM that supplies power to mids and tweeters (in the non HK the RAM module supplies all speakers at lower power output, different model RAM though), with the HK it has an additional Booster that supplies to the under-seat bass speakers. This is what is replaced, at the same time there is a software update for the ram itself, the Booster is not a coded item so cant be updated like the ram. The dates of the PUMA are not exact mine was built at the end of november 20. |

I would love to know what the actual problem is, it seems to have affected 1000's of cars......lots of people probably don't even realise as its intermittent or they just don't listen much, (reduced usage due to covid). should be a recalled part not just waiting for people to complain.( and some people still having fight with dealers) |

Does this affect German builds? Do the German builds use the same amp from Mexico? My car is still a few months away built at Germany; hope it does not come with this amp!

Mine is a September 2020 Mexico build. I plan on taking it in to the dealer in the next week or two. Hopefully, it's a quick and easy fix.
Those pops instantly change my mood while I am driving every time I hear them.
