3 series car insurance premiums

my car insurance has come up for renewal and they have increased the premium on my 320d by a pretty massive 40% to $1400. have been shopping around and everyone are charging the same. zero accident history, zero demerit points, named drivers only, nobody under 30 will drive, parked in garage etc etc. has any body else been hit with a big premium rise for no reason? are they cartelising?

this is probably the reason. of course the industry group found a way to increase already expensive premiums.

Did you try Budget Insurance? I insured my 1 month old car for around $1152.

yes I checked them too. they came up at 1500. a colleague of mine who has a Jag XE paid only $900 (in Jan). perhaps the insurance companies have recently revised their car profile data (as per the link that I posted)

I just renewed my 330i insurance today with windscreen replacement, only $60000 replacement value (my car is now 2 years old). I maxed out the excess to $2200 and it cost $655 or so.

aami comes out to 950 including windscreen cover at max excess. found that the premium is much lower on a brand new 330i compared to my 2019 320d.. how does that make sense..

No idea... mine is one of the oldest G20 330i in the country. I originally paid less than $500, so it's creeping up - 3rd year of insurance. $950 is quite expensive considering I pay less than $700 - maybe postcode related?

I only drive about 10000km a year too. Use the X5 for long drives.

I live in Cranbourne, known hoon suburb, so it's possible. but in tried doing a quote for Mitcham, came up same premium. my other car is a Commodore. so if the insurance companies somehow know about that, then I would fit into the perfect hoon profile.. a 3 series, a Commodore, living in upper middle Bogan land!

How you guys getting such cheap insurance?

All the big players, I was getting quotes of $1500+ even with 2k excess. Cheapest so far is Budget Direct with $1.2k. 35 year old driver, no accident history.

I got hit with a 40pc rise. my quote was $1400 for $900 access. managed to reduce it to $950 for a$1700 access with budget direct, still much higher than what scooter person on this chain reported, but a lot lower than yours! no idea what is happening. I posted a link in the thread which probably explains why premiums have shot through the roof. $1500 for a max excess quote is down right exp l extortion. which model is your car?

Ouch!

It is a 330, garaged and 10000-15000kms reported.

Was considering going with BMW Insurance (underwritten by Allianz) as there is no additional charges for paying monthly. Still have a few months to decide. Hoping premiums go down by then lol!

Got BMW insurance when I picked up my car 2 weeks ago.

Was only slightly more than most and less than NRMA even after using them for 20+ years. Loyalty discount my butt..

good luck mate. let's hope they reduce it. there is a tendency to think that if we can afford a German car, we have money to throw around..

im currently with BMW insurance. yep they say they have given me a 15% safe driver discount! the poor customer care guy seemed really stunned at my premium increase tried his best to reduce.. zero accident, zero de merit points, named drivers only, garage, 15k mileage, no rental car (but I take windshield cover) and yet they dare charge me $140 per month!! I'm now really afraid they are going down the path of electricity retailers

FYI. Here is a screenshot. This also includes windscreen replacement. In addition to what I mentioned above, I also have no finance which might lower the premium.

That is an awesome price! I don't think my CTP comes even close to that.

Tried a quote with AAMI and best I got was $1400.

Sighs, I will try again in a few months.
