That's from the UK spec driver's manual:

Yes this works for me. Ill check to see if there was a setting in the system for this.

Yes, please. I cannot find a setting for this anywhere. Only for the foot movement method. I assume you haven't coded it in. Also, which model year do you have?

The US Spec owners manual mentions you can use the button inside the drivers door to close the lid, but it doesn't say anything about using the button on the key fob. I will also go out later and check.

If that's the case, mine is malfunctioning because it doesn't work.

Okay Tim so I mistaken the foot closing feature selection in the menu. It doesn't appear to have an option to turn it on or off.

When you pull upwards on the trunk switch, do you feel a click? You have to hold it for about 2 seconds and keep holding till the trunk fully closes.

EDIT: 2021 and not coded.

Okay. Yeah, I pull on the trunk switch for a few seconds and it doesn't close. However, I haven't tried to hold it in the pulled position. I need to try that. I hear a sort of mechanical clicking like sound, but no closing. If you have a '21 and no coding, it should work for me as well.
I just tried it again and keeping the trunk button pulled and it worked! Thanks!

Yes it needs the pull being held, I'm sure for the safety aspect of quickly stopping if you somehow accidentally whack someone over the head with it.

I have the opening function that came with the premium package. I didn't purchase the $250 open & close option. I did have that on my 18 X1 though,

I have the power trunk in my 330i too and do really like the option as well. It's one of those small things that seems so stupid but it's so convenient and, in the winter time when the paint is covered in dirt/salt, no fingerprints on the trunk!

I wish you were able to close it from the remote too, but I've only been able to open it. I also haven't been able to get it to close from the driver seat, only open, but I haven't tried pulling the switch and holding until it closes. I'm going to try that out next.

I figure I must be doing something wrong, because why would they have the switch toggle forward if it's not meant to be closed from inside?

Yeah try pulling the switch from the driver's side when you get a chance. You have to continuously keep it pulled all the way until the trunk actually closes. I discovered that it did in fact work so I was happy about that. However, it does make the loud beeping sound and flashes just like when you wave your foot under the rear bumper to close the trunk. Oh well, better than nothing.

I have tried closing the trunk using the button in the physical key. Unfortunately no, I'm only able to open using the key. That's is so weird, this feature is there in EU models, but not in US models.

So I'm able to Open & close by waving the foot and using the button in the drivers side door (Make sure the key is inside the car and the car senses your key, only then you will be able to close the trunk using the button) or the physical buttons on the trunk.

Yep, exactly the situation I have experienced and can't figure out why we can't close it using our key fob. Odd.

Looks like BMW website build configurator has an incorrect description it says we can open & close using key fob as well BMW it's not fair

"Power tailgate
$250

Fully open and close the trunk lid with just the touch of an interior button, key fob or through the hands-free power trunk-lid function of Comfort Access."

That's messed up. I hadn't even read that.

Correct as in that's what is described on the website or that this function actually works as it is described?

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone here in the US can utilize this feature as described regarding the key fob(ability to close the trunk).

For $250 bucks it was no brainer for me..... but then most of the cars that I have purchased in last 10 years had this option anyway.

Especially when you compare it to the $500 smartphone BBQ grill, I mean wireless charger.

I've personally only had this available on SUVs, not on a sedan so it's refreshing.
