G20 Hardwire dashcam
Back fuse in boot had higher numbered fuses and didn't seem right, couldn't locate the front fusebox which according to the fuse numbers, would make sense to hardwire to if following same fuses as my M4 Blackvue hardwire install. These pics are on the wife's G20 320d, UK car steering on right.
Get a flat head screwdriver, on your knees by the pedals. Look under the steering wheel and above the pedals amongst all the air con recesses and you will find 2 screw fittings, one on the left and one on the right. Loosen these, they will stay attached to the plastic cover they are holding and gently pry it down. Et voila. On the M4 I used fuses 161 for BATT (perm 12V) and 143 for ACC (ignition on). Here I will follow same convention and use F39 for BATT and F36 for ACC. |

Thanks for the info! I was planning out how I will be hardwiring my Blackvue since on my current F30 I have the wire running to the fusebox in the trunk floor behind the back seats. Looks like the G20 will be easier as I can just use the one in the front.
Hoping it's the same configuration as the LHD cars but good to know which fuses are perm on and which are ignition switched on.

On my F10, it was wired to the back fuse box to power trunk fuse. It was a super easy job and I was thinking about doing the same on the G20.

I wired mine to #29 for BATT and #36 for ACC but the power stays on constantly on the power magic pro box whether in parking mode or not so I am not sure if #36 is a good fuse for ACC.
Does that work ok for you? |

Just found out that blackvue do an OBD version of the magic power pro https://www.blackvue.com/product/power-magic-ez/ so I will go for that one I think. Less issues with warranty etc (if the OBD port is always powered that is)

Please report back if you end up getting this thing. Folks are reporting that OBD Ports in G(X) BMW's are not compatible with powering up dash cams. I hope this works as it is a very clean solution.

I had it and although I had the cutoff set to the most conservative setting, the car still saw it as a leech and would give me battery warnings each time. To remedy that I just unplugged it if the car was going to sit idle for more than 12 hours, otherwise it worked fine.

Took delivery of a new '22 Pre-LCI G21 on Friday. Dash cam is on its way so found this thread over the weekend.
I've just had a look this morning and it has been revised on my model. There is an airbag in the footwell (UK model and on driver's side/right hand of vehicle) and I think because of this, BMW have replaced the twist screws/clips with an 8mm long bolt on either side. The bolt screws all the way out, rather than being captive and then the panel drops with the airbag module staying in place. It gives slightly less room to work in, but if you're coming down the rubber seal on the right hand side of the car into the dash behind the panel that pops off on the end of the dash, you are straight to the fuse box and nowhere near the airbag module, so still safe to run the positive wire that way. I'll get some pics when the dashcam arrives and I get to fitting it.

Went down to the fuse box the usual way through the end of the dash by popping the end cap off, and zip tied the spare wire in here to the beams behind the switch panel to stop it rattling around. Used fuse #59 which is for the Emergency Call Assist if anyone is interested. Front: Rear fitted later:
