Is there a car currently out there that's AWD, manual, and has 450ish ft lbs (or greater) of torque? That's gotta be hell on a clutch.

Also, knowing owners are going to dump their clutches on launches, I don't think it's going to happen. I'm perfectly fine with a RWD manual if they widen the rears a bit.

Because option packages and product mixes can be changed pretty late in the game as long as everything is developed. The business case for a manual is likely in thin ice, and people at BMW are trying to find ways to continue to offer it without expending too many resources and introducing too much complexity to do so.

Development and final calibrations of the G80 won't be complete u til 4-6 months before production start, so there's plenty of time. It's also possible (likely?) that the 6MT will launch a bit later. We've seen this from Porsche with the 992 7MT showing up a while after launch and also with the M40i's lunching a few months after the 30i versions of the G20 and new Z4.

I track my cars so try not to tune them .. my F80 didn't like the JBwhatever when I was on the track ... but it felt like the 6MT needed the tune to feel as fast as a stock DCT F80. Power delivery I guess? I still had more fun in my 6MT than my DCT... my wife didn't even want to drive the DCT! lol... she's a total "sports cars need to be a manual" snob, far worse than me.

Anyways .. like many others, I'm super excited about this news! Special order here I come.

Didn't this interview come out before the other thread popped up?

So this would maybe mean that G80/G82 would come with RWD standard with the option of AWD. Then of course 6MT?

Hope so, give ppl the option. Though to be honest I'm still sad we are losing the M-DCT hence why I'm leaning into a 911 w/ PDK.
