Admiral quoted around £930 as well. I was expecting it to be much cheaper given the car's insurance group is not that high (relative to an M3 for example)

Same experience. Quotes for the insurance on my M340i were significantly higher than my previous 440i. QuoteMeHappy were the cheapest but the excess was quite steep.

In the end, I called BMW insurance and their quote was very close to QuoteMeHappy with a much lower excess. Suggest you try BMW Insurance.

Thanks for that! I tried it and BMW Insurance actually came out considerably cheaper, around £650 with a low excess. Plus car would be repaired using BMW parts as well. Definitely will go with them (unless Admiral can match them).

Glad to help. I've got an Admiral multi car policy as well for some other cars so I tried them as well. They could get close but were still £50 adrift and of course, the BMW policy as you say, gives you the assurance of BMW parts and I believe the option (but please check) to use a BMW bodyshop as the policy states:

"if your car is a BMW, all Authorised Centres will work to the highest BMW standards of repair using fully trained technicians, working with approved equipment and following BMW technical repair methods. Quality and Safety are synonymous with the Authorised Centres and provide the assurance that your vehicle will be returned to you in its pre-accident condition. The work carries a Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee providing it is inspected annually by a BMW Authorised Centre and until ownership of the vehicle changes."

"Authorised Centre – an authorised BMW Centre or BMW Approved
Bodyshop in the UK or, where your car is not BMW, an Authorised Repairer."

£781 from Elephant. That's SDCP with protected no claims. I have 25+ years of no claims, not sure if that is comparable to the rest of you...

Finally got the car delivered today! Amazing car, the tech is incredible and I am surprised in Comfort mode how quiet and comfortable it is!

Haven't been able to test the performance as the manual says not to push it for the first 1,200 miles.

In the terms of the full Merino option, wow it really makes the cabin look even more premium. Is it worth £2750? Probably not unless you really wanted leather on the dashboard like I did. But I think extended Merino for £999 is good value and noticeably better than Vernasca.

Just got some insurance quotes today for my M340i which l pick up this week.

Car is parked on my drive and policy is fully comp with 13 years no claims, £250 excess, legal and personal accident cover, breakdown and courtesy car. Cheapest quote coming in at £532 with a few more below £600 and plenty in the £600 -£800 range.

These quotes are similar if not cheaper than the renewal quote for my 4 year old 335d.

Hello All,

I'm joining the club and have this on order scheduled to hopefully appear in November (subject to Brexit chaos) to replace my current M240i.

https://configure.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/configid/p9o8k2t7/G20

I have two boys who are getting bigger and the soon to be 6 year old needs his own door...

My cheapest quote was around £53o odd with 18 years NCB.

What sort of delivery times have people been getting as I reckon if it sticks to the timeline my dealer has suggested it could be 6 weeks?

My M240i took a while was it was originally an M235i which BM then cancelled due to the swap over to the 240... Which was fine for me as I got the new nav and 1 of the first M240i in the country.

Nice.

Looks like there must have been some form of review embargo lifted in the UK, as some positive reviews are out from local press:

Has anyone gone from a 340i MPPSK to a M340i. Would be interesting to know your thoughts.

Congrats. This car is basically the performance of the last gen M3 but with. XDrive security and less of the M drawbacks.

Your post got me thinking so I checked on Parkers. The M340i is group 38 compared with my current 340i which is group 39 and your 335d which is group 43. As they say, Go Figure.

I ended up paying £534.23 fully comp with £150 excess, legal expenses and protected no claims (l have 13 years).

I went with BMW insurance who were surprisingly competitive.

Interesting... In previous BMW purchases I have found them to be way more expensive.

Attempted just now and was told they were not able to supply a quote. Perhaps I don't have enough detail on the car... As well it was only ordered 3 weeks ago... So a bit off know the Reg plate etc.

Or perhaps it was I had to list the infuriating claim in September 2015 I had to make when someone in a White van relied totally on their parking sensors and took the back my 5 Series off as it was on the edge of their sensors.

A 5 Series which was parked outside our house where thankfully 1 of of neighbours witnessed it and noted the name of the dog walking service it was from. We could track them down via their Facebook page and go "AHEM!" as they had left the scene without a note or anything.
