Yes, you will need a tune or other method to not get a cel.

You will need a tune that auto clears it or you will have to manually clear it every time it appears.

Can anyone tell me if the downstream o2 sensor, which causes the CEL, is informational only? Meaning it is telling the ECU that the Cat is not working properly, OR can it modify any parameters, like fueling?

I am of the understanding it is purely informational, and if so, clearing the code via a tune would be 100% fine. However, if it, in any circumstance, can make changes to engine parameters, could that cause. any issues long term.

It's more of a checks and balances system and is giving back data to the ecu. Clearing just the emissions code is the best way via a tune.

Yes, am aware of that. My question is - could there be any issues with ignoring these DTC's in the very long term? I assume a tune simply ignores the DTC so it doesn't throw a CEL.

Are you asking if it will cause any issues running around with the cel caused by no cats ? If so answer is no

There are few methods tuners use to turn off the cel. One is change the parameters to trip the light another is turning off the code it throws all together. Some methods are better for showing readiness for emmisions scans and such .

What does it mean for us poor souls with a 2021+ hybrid M340i’s? Is there a workaround? Do we have to live with lights on? I guess I will have to wait until my warranty expires. Great price and it sounds like a great product. Wish it did not throw CEL code/light.

Poor souls? Every untuned car has to live with the lights on. Only difference is you DME unlock OCONUS. There’s always the AA catted downpipe with a no CEL guarantee but I don’t see how that addresses the warranty worries. You’re modifying the car, CEL or not. Gotta pay to play.

😂😂😂I see a light hearted joke flys right over your head. If using “poor souls” offends you, take a deep breath. I am well aware of my options.

Where exactly did I sound offended? Your car not mine lol. It was meant to be informative as you seemed to be under the impression 21+ cars were any different than the rest. You just asked 3 different questions regarding a simple downpipe in your last post but now you’re “well aware of your options”. Okay!

Actually have been talking with Mike from X-PH since 2021. Great guy, very knowledgeable, great Company and prices that are hard to beat. Bought many items from IND, Dinan, and many other sponsors. Owned my MY21 M340i since June of 21. I enjoy my Dinan catback, CAI, piggyback, and xHP. xHP is insane. If you don’t have it, you should try it. You are not preaching anything that is not known. I understand from your first reply you did not get the joke just from your first 2 words with a question mark. Without a Femto DME unlock most of us know tunes are not available for 21+ G2X’s. Just bolt on’s and piggybacks. Most manufacturers don’t post their products as not usable on post June 2020 G2X’s or that they throw CEL errors. Even if you had recent BMW updates to your older G2X it might be locked as well now. Preach to someone else. You are to serious for a prophet 🤷‍♂️. I told you, it was a joke. If you did not like my post, just ignore it. Just in case anyone needs a Femto unlock. Easy simple instructions.

This is a great product and I've had it on my car for about 7000miles.

Any 200cell dp will throw a CEL. So either deal with a CEL or you need to go a 400cel dp. We use a 200cel because it flows almost like a catless. The 400 cel does not flow as well but you don't get a CEL if you use something like AA.

If I had a 21, for the cost of AA, I just wouldn't bother with the mod. On its own the cost is not worth the benefit. And for that cost, I would spend a bit more and get a femto unlock and use a dp like this MAD one.

That's me after having a dp with no tune for a while and then getting the tune. The dp does give a benefit on its own, but not enough IMO to spend AA dollars on one.

I feel for you having the 21, I am so glad I got a 20 and have the flexibility I have.
