It does mean that on average, but in reality what happens in some cars have a few issues offsetting those that have none reported. Each incremental issue and associated dealer visit becomes the dissatisfier.

At least, there is some sign of honesty in finally recognizing and dealing with one of the Model 3 design flaws and a plan to fix...seems to fall into the "better late than never" category. Meanwhile, having to walk back down the road to pick up a rear fascia does count as an "issue".

The litmus test for BMW as a whole (not just the M sub brand) is if they can really bring an electric car as a compelling product to market that can rival Tesla.
None of the other auto makers have succeeded so far.
All of them are either missing driving range or size of car or charging networks.
BMW i4 and iNext are promising for both sizes and driving ranhges but what about the charging networks?
Tesla have their so far superior supercharger network. Can BMW compete by offering Ionity access in Europe? Not yet, the network is too far behind and too small...

No one doubts that BMW will build a better car if looking only at the car itself. Teslas are horrible in that respect. I had one for three years.
But for electric mobility, it's not only about the car, it's a mobility solution that needs to be there. This means good high speed charging access. This and either range or size is where most others have failed so far.

The Genman's biggest issue is Tesla has a complete charging network that no other manufacturer can even begin to touch

Sure, but in Europe it is not tha big of a issue. Also at the beginning of ev's, now, most who buys them have charging option at home.

In future when ev's gets more popular market will handle the charging stations.

Why isn’t it a big issue in europe?
It’s frankly what’s keeping me from getting an EV again (had a Tesla, liked the EV part, not so much the rest of it).
For day to day sure, hime charging is enough. But when on a family trip som 350 miles (one way) you need the fast charging network. Likewise for the more seldom 1500 miles in two or three days trip.

Well, tbf anti-EV people always bring that up (not claiming you are anti-EV, you are just making the same argument right now) and it was shown before this is a non-issue in the real world. There are many (very easy) solutions for this problem, which are implemented by now (at least by some BMW dealers for i customers). The very easy one: Include a once/twice a year free rental car for long trips.

And even with pure EVs, the problem should be solved with next gen cars (i.e. in 5-7 years), since you then will be able to charge multiple hundred km in only 15 minutes. Even right now you can charge almost 150km of range in only 15 minutes with the ix3.

When we vacationed in Florida from the mid-west, I routinely rented a car for that trip. It saved putting over 3K miles on my vehicle.

IMO 300-500 mile range is the sweet spot for owners to feel comfortable with an EV (about what you'd get from a full tank of gasoline in an ICE car. We are not that far away for many of new the EV's.

With any new technology, there will always be a those that point out all the negatives in much the same way people defended the horse over the automobile at the turn of the 20th century. We are certainly light years ahead of where we were transitioning from horse to horse-less than we are from ICE to EV.

A bit off-topic, but the Audi etron RS prototypes where shown to press a couple days ago. It will feature 350kW fast charging. Very impressive, once the infrastructure starts to support that, you will be able to charge 0%-80% in under 30 mins, i.e. ~220 miles of range.

The battery size seems to still be somewhat of a letdown with only 95kWh and is just in line with all the other EVs out there.

Once there is an EV with 150kWh+ of battery with at least 200 kW of fast charging (and the infrastructure to use this feature), I'll replace my privately owned M550d. I hope the i4 LCI will be able to fulfill my wishes.

It’s not about charging speeds as long as they’re decent (>100 kW).
It’s about high speed charging networks! None come even close to Tesla’s.

It will be interesting to see what Car Company will be the first to ask permission to access Tesla Supercharger Network

Tesla absolutely trumps all with only their supercharger charging network

Agree...a well-made car that can use the Tesla network would be a win-win not yet available!

not sure if they've improved since the last time I read up on it, but it seems like EA is a lot more unreliable of a network and has some issues that needed to be fixed. Many Audi E-Tron and Taycan owners who have used an EA charger seem to have mixed experiences.

Ford is a joke offering 5 free charges

So far I am not impressed with Electrify America

They are funded and controlled by Volkswagen regardless of their government mandated requirement to grow and expand their network

Electrify America currently has countless locations that have been built-out, yet still are not in service and have been sitting that way for almost a year

I have two different EA chargers at two Walmarts and I honestly can't tell if they are turned on yet or not. They were built some time ago, but I never have seen a car use one. EA's website lists them, but for a Walmart, I would expect at least one car there. There's always chargers just hanging and people tend to just leave their shopping carts in those spaces. Only time I've seen a car there was when an F250 double parked in a charger spot.

Take a closer look at those chargers

I bet there is still plastic on some of the charger plugs

They're the same way at many Target locations and nobody has ever used them accordingly

Disappointing turn of events as Lucid is looking quite impressive otherwise (with allowing for a year of production first, of course!). The base $69k car versus i4 will be an interesting comparison.

Lucid and Rivian are the two companies I really hope for. The cars they have planned look awesome and I really do hope that they succeed.

Automotive Journalist Jason Camissa has a really interesting podcast on youtube and in one episode he was discussing Lucid and was really praising their team as he got a behind the scenes look at the cars and their development. He said that the head of the company is really devoted to efficiency and their powertrain (especially being that he was the chief engineer of the Model S) and that apparently all the chassis engineers all own vintage/golden-era BMW's (He said it jokingly but I think he was being serious). Either way, I have high hopes for those two.

At lease Lucid Motors has the big picture clear and is completely laser focused on the outcome
