Is this still true for 2021?

I am getting conflicting information from BMW that indicates there are no larger brakes in the ZTK / 33T M Technology package for 2021.

They gave similar surprising information on the tire setup, indicating square 225 only, even with 19 inch wheels and high performance tire setup.

I am hoping that I have landed with some poorly informed folks there. I am in the US market.

Are they using the VIN from your build and telling you this?

No, I just asked about possible configurations. I did push on the wheels/tires and they got back to me that they were in error. But even more nuanced, they said the online configurator that says the 19 inch 792M with high performance non run flats with staggered tire configuration is available without the ZTK is in error. The said that tire package is ONLY available in the context of the ZTK.

However, they reiterated that the ZTK does not come with larger brake package in the US (EU only).

It is kind of wild...and confusing. I wonder if even this is correct.

Who at "BMW" are you getting this info from. Is just a CA or an actual product specialist. Local dealer or BMWNA? Try putting the vin in realoem and see if it shows the front rotors as 348mm or 374mm. Also, check the ordering guide which will tell you what can be ordered as a standalone item vs requiring a specific pkg.

lMedge ,

Just checked on-line configurator & here's results:

Cooling and High Performance Tire Package

$1,500

Enhance the cooling performance of your vehicle with a more powerful cooling fan and an additional engine oil cooler. High-performance tires will match the aggressive racing pedigree with improved traction, reduced stopping distance and enhanced dynamic response. Mobility kit is included.

Customize Your Package

Fine-tune this package to include the features you want. Choose from the available options below, then click "Add To Build" to continue. Option images may represent an alternate vehicle than the one being configured.

19" M Double-spoke jet black wheels, style 791M with high performance non run-flat tires

Don't see any mention of brakes. Hope that helps!

Ya, its hilarious.

I asked the sales associate at a dealership, who also brought in a 'regional product specialist' from BMW corporate. At the same time I asked BMW corporate directly via the 'genius' support email. All of them provided information that conflicted with each other.

I looked at the ordering guide - did not see mention of brakes. But this also conflicts with posts on this forum which clearly do mention them:

Yeah the details of the kit have never mentioned anything regarding brake size. It was through comments here from people who ordered the kit in 2020 models that brought it to light.

One of the reasons I ordered this kit on my 2021 build was for this reason, so I will be fairly disappointed if they eliminated the larger front calipers for some reason.

I won't find out for about a month, but will update the forums when I take delivery.

Thanks! That would be awesome. I am thinking of ordering in late Winter.

Intreated to get clarification on this. Just got a 2021 m340 last month and the stock red brakes are the only area I feel the car needs improvement. They dont feel adequate for spirited driving in my opinion or proportional to the cars power.

If the package mentioned bigger brakes I would have certainly waited to find an m340 that had the package at a local dealership.

Anyway we can get a part number for the bigger brakes for any of those just interested in upgrading their brakes ?

FYI My dealer looked for cars with this package. There was one in FL that wasn't well optioned so I ordered one. Doesn't seem too popular for dealer's to keep in their inventory.

It's interesting because 3 of the 4 on-hand locally in Allentown market have this package. Maybe they ordered them first as showcase 2021 models and expect them to sit?

I also noticed they are black sapphire, so maybe they just liked the murdered look.

So I was looking at the configurator. the Cooling and High Performance Tire Package has the option to be customized. One of the options is M Technology package

“Increased capacity of the braking and drivetrain cooling systems guarantee long-lasting high performance under extreme driving conditions, particularly when driving in very high temperatures.”

I’m fairly new to bmw so I’m sure other members are more knowable about this option but the m technology package is the only place I see mention of increased capacity of the braking and drivetrain cooling systems.

If the package does in fact offer bigger brakes is this something we are able to order and have installed.

Possibly but I would question the cost effectiveness.

I read a quote on these forums that said the larger brakes are meaningfully more expensive.

Why would they be that much more expensive? They aren't carbon ceramic. I can't imagine them being anymore more expensive than the regular brakes.

Yes if 1) It comes with the larger brakes and 2) you track it

The tires/wheels/repair kit is half the package. So it’s basically 750 for brakes and oil cooler.

They aren’t anywhere near as much as carbon ceramics...those would be 5-10k more.

I meant it would not be economical if you bought an m340 with the standard m-sport brakes and then bought the brand new larger steel brakes.
