What's the reason? I thought it was because they say ale tastes better when it's not ice cold. What's the link to cars?

Because they use Lucas refrigerators! Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.

All stereotypes about Jaguar vehicles are true, at least pre-Ford ownership. Mainly flaky (Lucas) electrics and oil leaks.

But there weren't many prettier vehicles in the late 60s through the mid 80s, in my view. Jag gave M-B a run for their money in the luxury saloon segment withe XJ-12 Vanden Plas. Connolly leather, burl walnut and lamb's wood carpets, all good!

p.s. tongue in cheek with with good natured apologies to the British members of the site.

So what are you if you own a torque wrench and still fail to torque your wheel nuts properly?

Thanks for explaining. I certainly know about Lucas' propensity to not function as designed. I just didn't know they made refrigerators. So, bloke could break down on the motorway in a beautiful English car, get towed home, and walk in the door, open the fridge and find warm food and beer.

Man, I hope so. Quite well. Just did 5 hours of yard work and didn't vapor lock, so that's good.

E90 rear brakes are on the schedule for tomorrow. Car is already on the lift.

I just started torquing wheel bolts this year, and I have counted myself a car guy for at least 30 years. So my response is - car guy, provided you know how to use the torque wrench, and actually use it.

Well, in my case I ordered my E90 so I had to wait 6-weeks for delivery. During that time I bought the trunk mat and mud flaps to install when I got the car. Does that count? LOL

If your neighbor is blowing off his driveway with his leaf blower, but you're using yours to dry your car...

(This happened to me this past weekend...neighbors got a chuckle seeing the multipurpose simultaneously)

If you have as many or more containers of engine assembly lube as you have containers of skin care products, you're a car guy.

If the scents of methanol, nitromethane, 110-octane race gas, and diesel fuel are as invigorating to you as your girlfriend's scent on your bed linens, you're a car guy.

If the scent of burning clutch lining is as repulsive to you as your ex-wife's perfume, you're a car guy.

If you can reach into your laundry hamper on any arbitrary day and fish out at least one garment that reeks of degreaser/carb cleaner/brake cleaner/lacquer thinner, your car-guy credentials are unassailable.

If you and your dad talk more about the cars you've owned than you do about the women you've known, you're a car guy. And so, saints be praised, is your dad.

I worked outdoors - all day, every day - in lumber yards for 20 years, through all the climate extremes of the upper Midwest US where the difference between a year's highest high and the lowest low temp was typically 125 to 130 degrees. On a swelteringly hot day in the summer when the temperature on the 10-acre asphalt "griddle" yard was 120 degrees plus, one of our oases of relief was to grab the air hose in the saw shed and stick it in our pants pocket and pull the trigger, letting the 120 psi breeze give us a moment of comfort. An amazing morsel of relief.
