Oh yeah and the rear looks like a Lexus. And that's not a compliment.

How can the trunk capacity be smaller than the current 4 series coupe? In fact, it is smaller that the 2 series gran coupe. Is that even possible or are I suffering from grille derangement syndrome?

The M-trim model looks good, futuristic and promising imo. But the base se trim looks very bad! I think the front bumpers of the base se model shouldn't be there.

Man. I just cant get over the grills. They throw the entire car off. Everything else is fine, the headlights are gorgeous but what the hell were they thinking? I wanna buy a 2020 and just sit on it til they mid cycle refresh those grills off, or maybe if the m3 stays the way it is with its grills id consider a 4 door. Not cool guyes 😔

So much to like about this design. Thank you BMW designers for your bravery. We now have a proper coupe no longer a sedan with two doors. Beautiful car. Can’t wait to see the M4 and to what extent this will be the generation of more functional aero.

Woof... We knew it was coming yet it still hurts to see.

What I don't understand is how they don't realize that a plate is almost always going to be installed and it's right in the middle of the bold design statement they are trying to make. They don't even attempt an off center mount?

I Love it, its bold & new and will stand out compared to any other car on the road. The rear is just right and even people who don't know much about cars will know its a BMW. Most people hated the design when Chris Bangle was designing (especially the 5 series). This new 4 looks stylish and upmarket and apart from the grill is a smaller 8 series.

The grill has been toned down and I think looks every part of how a new modern Bmw should look like, it won't take long for people to start loving it. It's a statement which no other car designer in this sector is attempting and isn't a statement what Bmw drivers like to make?

I can't believe the amount of hate this car got. I think it came out great and am excited to see it on the road and eventually get an M4!

I like the front, but the rear is awful IMO. Looks nothing like a BMW. Also why was the butchering of the Hoffmeister kink neccessary?

no continuity in grill and headlight design. the 430 has the grill going all the way to the bottom while the m440 has the grill hanging like buck teeth.

I always thought the g20 headlights would be the new design, but the 4 uses the 8 headlights. idk sometimes BMW goes forwards then backwards on their design. they have no clue what to move forward with

Well. Let's see. How should I put this. The G22/G82 will mark the first time since the debut of the E36 M3 coupe that yours truly will not own a M3/M4 of each generation made. I guess my next ride will be either the M8 or something from AMG or RS.

A face not even a mother could love.

Especially on the non M-Sport. Yikes. Even if it drives like a Cayman GT4, who would wanna be seen in this?

After being neutral towards the G22 redesign, I like the production version. It's not for everyone. Looking forward to G2X Gran Coupe version.

From the press release:
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...8&d=1591114541

New 48-Volt Mild Hybrid System

A new 48-volt mild-hybrid system is standard on the 6-cylinder M440i xDrive Coupe. The 48- volt starter/generator unit is complemented by a separate 48-volt battery which allows for energy recuperation, storage and use during driving. Energy can be recuperated from deceleration, braking and from excess electricity generated while driving in Sport mode.

The excess energy is converted to electricity by the 48-volt starter/generator and stored in the 48-volt battery. This energy can be used by the starter/generator unit to boost performance during hard acceleration or by providing power for electronic systems, thus reducing the load on the engine and improving overall efficiency.
The 48-volt starter generator also improves efficiency by allowing the stopped engine to be restarted quickly with little vibration. The Auto Start/Stop function can now turn off the engine while the driver is braking for a stop as soon as the speed drops below 9 mph.
