Picking up 2020 330 tomorrow in Birmingham, AL. I asked dealer to update software. He was told by BMW ONLY cars built July on would have AA, but i told him forums and even BMW press says otherwise.
Why is BMW so confused internally? Anyway, he just sent screen shots of what they installed. Will report back either tomorrow or Sunday to see if I get AA app to download. |

should get my G21 delivered this week/next week. Did you had to do anything in particular to get it Android Auto up, since your dealership said that there was nothing available?

My understanding is that anyone picking up a new car in July *should* have 07.2020.25 installed as default which includes AA.

My car is not new. Built in 2019 and is a 2020 g20. I asked dealer to update before i picked it up from them. So as others have said, clearly they can do this for any idrive 7. Not sure all dealers will cooperate, but if I was getting any G20 regardless of when built, I would ask them to update at least to the 7.20 software.

My car was in today for scheduled maintenance. I left a note asking them to update to 07.2020 so I could get AA.
Service advisor called me back saying that to get AA it will be a subscription via the connected drive website and that it was not yet available for my car. He also said that there is no iDrive update for my model. I am running 03.2020. He then told me even if there was a software update I would have to pay for it because "only cell phones get free software updates". I told him he was wrong on all fronts. He checked with the service foreman again and then called me back and told me that nothing was available for my G20 yet and that eventually I would get it via RSU. To which he added "And I know it works because you have 03.2020 on your car which you received remotely". To which I told him that was false because they were the ones who installed 03.2020 in my car. where do they find these guys? They'll say just about anything. I gave up. I guess I will just have to wait. |

My dealer prior to pickup kept insisting AA was not available and the update would not help. Also said he had been on a BMW video seminar about it and was told it wasn't possible. clearly it is. love bmw, but dang - get it together. doesn't seem that complicated - install 7.2020 and it works.

Anyone getting giddy about Android Auto, just be aware the list of phones that can do Android Auto Wirelessly is very limited. There is no cabled way for us at the moment

Here is how I managed to get the dealer to install it for me. I initially called and asked about it, and they had no idea what I was talking about as usual and they told me that I have to wait for it to be done over the air. I told them that I never received any update over-the-air even though I was at least 3 updates behind. So I hung up and called them again and told them that I was having issues with my screen sometimes switching off (which only happened twice in a year haha).
This time they told me that the only thing they can try is updating the software. 3 hours later and I have Android auto This is in Quebec Canada. |

You can enable the wireless projection from android auto using developer settings, and based on some xda developers posts that should be enough for wireless android auto. I should get my my2021 330e next week, so I'll be able to test with Huawei p30 pro. |

kaipajo ,
While right now I have Samsung S8, we also have other Android phone in family. Would you be kind enough to post either the link to the XDA post or the Developer Settings? Thank you very much

Enable development settings in the Android Auto app by opening the app, tapping settings, scrolling down until you see “version,” and then tapping on “version” 10 times. Enter Development Settings. Select “show wireless projection option.” Check that wireless projection is activated in settings Reboot your phone. Follow your head unit’s instructions on connecting to it wirelessly. Let us know if you had any luck connecting the other android devices! |

I did the above with my P30 Pro and all it did was connect to the cars WiFi (which I don't have paid subscription for Hotspot), phone then went nuts about Android Auto losing Internet connection, phone flashed and flickering. No choice but to restart phone, minimising apps etc wouldn't work. I'll keep at it

Love to get AA but not available yet for me. M340 with 11/2019.70. Updated a few days ago. No AA. BMW genius says AA only available with new cars. Although my understanding that it will be available for G20's with correct software, 7/2020.xx? Also can't log on to Bmw App Store in car

Mine is an April 2019 build and was updated at dealership other day so its definitely available. Mine updated itself to 11/2019 over the air about a week or 2 ago and dealership pushed 07/2020 when in for recall and service. This is in the UK btw.
