Find it pretty shocking that they are going to put a massive grille on an m4 when the m8 has a much smaller/proportionate grille.

This whole big grille thing seems like a pathetic effort to do something "radical," in terms of styling. It's a cop out, and it looks brutal.

It could be the inspiration by the successful execution of big grille on the 7er LCI and new X7. By then, 8er/M8 design had been already finalized so they didn't get the big grille. But I bet they will at LCI.

Granted big grilles seems to only work with big vehicles, but let's face it, F30/80 is already too big for a M3, G80 even more so.

Personally I don't like the big grille either, nor the big G80 as a M. But who knows, life changes. As a daily commuter, maybe I'll vote with my money on G80/82 when it's about the time.

Actually, I'm beginning to suspect that the whole point of the huge grille thing is to make the car look a bit smaller than it is.

Or maybe the designer(s) just liked the look. <shrug>

Wow I was a huge non-fan. But these pics have me interested in the black grills without the chrome! Really sporty. Chrome ones are still nasty as all hell! Also, There may be a technical reason for this change- open front bumper leads to more airflow for the turbos and cooling?

Why even call them BMWs anymore. Call them Laudis (Lexus plus Audi).

If I wanted a soft top convertible, I'd choose a AMG C63s over this Elephant Testicle front grill. What are they thinking? Right now some aftermarket company better come out with some retro type first for this grill is just plain nauseating ugly. I'm glad I purchased a 2018 M4 ultimate package convertible. This new look is just hideous and they will lose the fan base..

Everything seams to be ok, but just ok. Nothing amazing disappointedly.

Besides for the week rear view mirrors, the upside-down hockey stick side vents and of course the freaking hideously bloated and ugly kidney grills/frontend.

Truly, as a fan of the brand you have to ask yourself. What the hell is going on with BMW's exterior design department and the board that is approving this poor design language.

It will be. The renders have been pretty close since the E9X days, and the F8X render was 99.9% accurate (...except the mirrors; it had F3X mirrors).

GMC wore it better ... funny because I actually really like those trucks .... but really hate this big G80 grille render.

I bet it outsells the F8x by 10%+ and draws new customers to the brand, just as the F80 did.

No one else is doing anything interesting in terms of style. Everyone is playing it safe. I am so happy they are making an effort to differentiate the M cars more from the base models.

Don’t think they needed that drastic style grill to differentiate. They were certainly able to do it with your CS, without making it so heavy handed as to go with a front grill that looks to belong on a large truck.

Yeah - differentiate yourselves be developing something cool (like selectable AWD!!) , don't just make the craziest looking fashion accessory and slap it on to draw attention ....
