2019 DME to 2022 DME swap
So I have 2019 330i which hit around 203K and now has come to it last final moments. I plan to give it to a car dump place and they do not care if it works or now.
I also bought a 2022 330i Base which the DME is locked. Could I technically take out the 2019 DME ask a tuner to possible update or tune it and use it for the 2022 330i? What are the complications or is this a bad idea in general? |

Cant someone swap the engine in the '19 and keep running it? The rest of the car should still be in good shape after 5 years. Seems like a huge waste to dump it...

The problem here is that cloning is not very different from unlocking and reading. So if you can't unlock a DME, you can't clone it.
In general DME cloning is not worth it unless the original one has faulty wiring or connections. As of now only FEMTO is capable of unlocking 2020+ DMEs. |

You would need it unlocked either way, the DME you have is not coded to the same VIN. It's around $1k for an unlock if you do it yourself with shipping included.
