I placed my m340xi order in December and was able to add the MPE without an issue so I would assume nothing has changed but some people are saying it is because of the special edition which is supposed to have it.

Hi all!

New to owning a bmw, and the community as a whole, so figured I would posting some of my information for people who were looking to see how the process went for me. This is for an m340xi with MPE, black badges, black side skirts, alpine white, every option added (from the bmw website builder, minus the 5g simcard).

I placed my custom order at the end of December 2023. It was estimated week 8 production date. It was accurate. It took about 1 week to finish production once it started. Took a few days for it to update being at the port, and then left the next day.

Left the port on the Feb. 29th, and arrived in the Los Angeles port on March 3rd (stopped in long beach first on the 2nd, and then went to the port near Ventura the next day).

3/4 it was updated to being back at port (in California this time) and I am just waiting for them to add the black badges, black side skirts, and the MPE.

I am hoping that it gets delivered to my house this weekend, but it is coming from a nor cal dealership, so it needs to reach that first, and then send back down to me in so cal. Assuming no major delays adding on the port installed options it seems to have had 0 delays in the process. My broker estimated me a 3 month delivery date and we are just about to hit that. Just hoping everything goes smooth and with no issues for this last stretch!

About how long were you on "Ready for Transport"? I'm in CA like yourself, except in Norcal, I was designated " Ready for Transport" on 2/29/24, but haven't had a status update for a few days now. Hoping the tracker is delayed. Thanks for any insight!

Mine was on ready for transport for maybe a few days.. The one that took the longest for me was "awaiting carrier assignment". I think I was on that part for almost a week? If anything call the genius. They would have the most updated information and I would typically get a status update change from them a day or so ahead. They knew my ship name and stuff the day before it was updated to in transit.

Anyone else's order on the Mercury Leader boat? It arrived last night to Port Hueneme. My status changed to "In Transit" on 3/11/24.

From Port Hueneme, it gets driven/transported to your dealership correct? I'm in the Bay Area.

And the wait begins. Dealer estimates 4-5 months. We’ll see. No rush as our current 2022 m340i lease doesn’t end until November. CA said there were only 3 allocations nationwide, presumably due to Tanzanite selection. Had to do a dealer trade with a dealership in Texas (I’m in Georgia). Who knows, CA probably talking out his arse, I don’t care as long as my wife gets the color she wants.

Doesn't have all the options you selected, but my local dealership has a Tanzanite Blue M340i/Cognac in stock since Jan 10th. It came in on the same boat as our order, and we picked our car up on Jan 11th. It only took 8 weeks from our order being placed until delivery, so I can't fathom the dealer estimated 4-5 months.

Ordered my 2024 m340i in December. Dealer put in order and confirmed for production number January 2024. Received car from out of state in private transport on 3/19/24. I ordered a m340i RWD with the following, review attachment feel free to ask away. My grudge is there were a few things removed from model since my 2021. I have no cargo nets in back of front seats. My ambient lighting towards bottom of doors storage area is not there. The color choices have changed also but I’m going to combat that with custom setup. Cargo next on right side of trunk also deleted. Still has tray but whatever can now go flying around trunk. Also bottom of doors had lights to enhance puddle view, there’s definitely a molded rectangle in door card with no lights. I do however have the welcome carpet lighting. The black gloss on front of LCI and back bumper aren’t completely terrible in person. I prefer paint but whatever. Carpets no longer say m performance with m performance coloring on them. I got the base of the base, I called dealer about this one as I got the car from out of state. I wanted to make sure no one removed them. Turns out car no longer had m performance mats just performance packages?? Steering wheel horn area has cheap turtle shell vs real stitch m performance one in past. I want to say also steering wheel in general has different material on it, maybe softer leather. Idrive 8 takes some getting use to but climate control can be opened via BMW Assiatant to help with the new transition to no buttons. Outside mirrors are great design but seem a bit big for car. Front dash seems to have more room to extend out arms and grab wheel for better comfort driving. Biggest positive is seats are now plush to sit in with Vernasca leather. My 2021 seats were very firm and my wife complained and I completely understood. Way softer now but my concern is will they wear quicker from softer cushioning. Interior windshield pillars where it meets headliner are not properly tightened down like my 2021, it doesn’t looked flushed and wrapper tight. Interior door handle is now cheap black plastic instead of Alluminum plastic trim which looked higher quality but make no mistake still plastic. Someone also mentioned aside from sensatec dash there’s another one custom that you can ask for and it may change something on interior up. I may have to review can’t remember if it was a difference on Mexico production car going into US. I also had to order 792m wheels with Cooling & HP TIRE PK. Could not order all black 791m, however car looks great.

Not an update, still in Production Begins status; however, today the picture on the tracker changed to reflect the correct wheels and even the red calipers. Previously, it just seemed a little generic with random wheels.

Has anyone had a similar experience. My M340 went into the paint shop on the 10th I’ve contacted the dealer for an update and was told that it’s only just making its way to the production line this week. Is that normal? I though from paint to production is within a few a few days not weeks?

I have ordered a new m340i that goes to production by week 17. Currently says scheduled for production. Does anybody know when it would be delivered at the dealership. My dealer is in boston

Just ordered an my M340i. Dealer claims to have an allocation, but it’s been a couple days and I haven’t received my production number.
Hopefully I’m not being jerked around. They stated a 14-16 week ETA.

So now I wait.

Yeah... that sounds fishy. If they have a production slot, they should be able to give you the number. I would call and ask for it flat out. If they hesitate at all, you know you are being jerked around.

I’m still waiting on a production number from my dealer.
I’m curious: can I change color as long as it hasn’t entered production? I initially wanted Skyscraper Grey, but I’ve decided that Dravit Grey is more my style.

Just emailed my CA and asked if he can make this change. I really hope so.
