Why can't BMW design a damn exhaust with a smaller muffler so it doesn't stick out like a fat belly from a shirt?

Can't wait to see final product.
Rear fender don't look as wide but I am sure this will change. Looks like it's missing a few pieces

I noticed that too. Extra add on flare to cover extra wide tires required for more x-drive "grip" ?? It looks like the fronts are huge in some of those pics.

I enhanced the dark part of the image and you can see some of the outlines of the grill.

is that cladding or do I spy some real fender flare profile?!?!
on the flipside that exhaust must weigh a solid 300 lbs!!

Why don't they just design a lower rear bumper to hide that huge ugly exhaust.I thought they would have learned their lesson after the ugly M2 Competition exhaust but it doesn't look like it from these pics.

Maybe, just maybe, the final version will also have a lower valance/apron around the back to help cover the muffler. |

So they'll keep grafting the M4's front end to the M3 even though the 4er / M4 is set to get a controversial front fascia with huge vertical kidneys?! Why not finally grow up and base the M3's front end on the 3 Series, just like the M5 is based on the 5 Series and like all competitors do?!
I hope I'm wrong but the camouflaged front clearly isn't based on the 3er. |

Some thoughts from a 60-year-old car guy:
I have driven a ZF 8 speed auto and marketing hype suggests it's a quick shifter. It wasn't. I would miss the DCT. It's one of the coolest and funnest performance highlights of the F 80 platform IMO. I'm assuming the ZF auto is required for the X Drive mechanicals. Regarding quality of sound , I'm coming from a supercharged 32 valve 4 cam Ford V-8 Mustang. For those that have heard one or been in one the sound does not get much better. Period! I've had all American muscle in my car life. Never thought I would say this but, The TwinTurbo in line 6 in my CS sounds excellent to these ears . Not a blown V-8 but sounds fkn good to me. I'm mixed on the all-wheel-drive part. I personally like "lighting them up" once in a while and doing power drifts with a RWD car. It's FUN!! The one thing I think about with AWD 500 hp six banger is absolutely smoking a supercharged V-8 mustang from 0 to 60 in a stoplight to stoplight race lol. I guess I'm OK with the AWD option but would not like the weight penalty, mechanical complexity, and added cost. Speaking of cost there was a lot of bashing on the cost of the 2018 M3 CS. I bet that a properly optioned 2020 M3 comp with x drive will easily surpass the 100k holy grail threshold. |

C63s are easily 100k and in my opinion not worth it. Don’t understand the CS bashing of price. Hopefully the next CS will be even more Limited. If the CS is too expensive. The competition is phenomenal, I had one. Especially given it’s the last dct should hold price in the future.

Agree. I got mine for $94,400 (before tax) and that included the executive package and a $400 dealer installed window tint which is almost a must here in Nevada.
