Can't they coat the exhaust in something black?

Copy-pasting the M4's front end to the M3 not only diminishes the whole 3 Series range as being unable to keep a consistent identity from base model to flagship M3, it makes even less sense given there should now be an M4 GC alongside the sedan, so I would hope this thing here is just an early Frankenstein prototype using the M4's front end because for some reason the M3's isn't ready yet.

What is going on with BMW and their huuuuuge mufflers now (starting with the M2C). Looks so horrible. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt since this is a mule, but still.....

I like the back, the hood looks very boring, the flares could go bigger and wtf is w the sunroof. That must be on the pure. Carbon only.

Since the grills are so huge, they need to make the muffler huge to keep that 50:50 weight balance. duh

Is it because of the Euro emissions standards?

I think it's a "here to stay" trend, unfortunately,

Blame it on the new particulate filters.

I hope I'm wrong but the camouflaged front clearly isn't based on the 3er.
That would explain why the introduction is so late despite mules being around for about a year already.... they dont want to reveal the facia

i suppose the other option is its some kind of camo on camo to throw us off, the grill section does protrude out more than is typical

Not sure if the imminent X4M gives us a glimmer of hope that they may tuck it away a bit once its all finished? Right now, its an eyesore on this M3 and needs refining.

That's a good point - but they sure didn't mind leaving it hanging out on the M2C...

Definitely looks like it has wider fronts on, but the back looks just like some tacked on fender "lips".

Those rear fender flares look forced. I hope they resolve the fender flare design before the official launch.

For those with experience with this process of a new model vehicle coming out, when do you project we'll get to see most of the car without the camo leading to the reveal?

This is literally something they do in a garage with a grinder, there is no chance the real doesn't get proper looking flares for production. I work in automotive, and have seen truck lights on minivans and tow mirrors on cars to camo the final design haha, don't worry about this at all

After three model generations later, BMW still hasn't found a way to cover the ugly looking exhaust. WTF!!!
