I live in Buffalo, NY and my biggest BMW complaint for 10 years has been the lack of a remote start option. I am going to be in the market for a new car in a few months but having a remote starter that doesn't activate all of the hot options in the car is counter productive to having a remote starter. May affect my decision.

On my US-delivered 330i running version 7.2019.40, heated seats are definitely not part of the remote start routine. If yours is truly working before you get in the car and exit remote start, what version of software are you running? Last edited by 2020g20; 11-19-2019 at 11:27 AM.. |

This really sucks, kills the purpose of having remote start when your seat and steering wheel is ice cold. I just wish the climate rules would have applied to remote start as well.

When you start your car with Remote Start how long does it stay on for?
My car seems to shut off after a period of time like 5 minutes or something. Is there a time setting? |

That's what I expect when I come to a luxury car forum though. I'd be more surprised if someone posted that their 3 series was rammed by an angry rhinoceros, or something like that.
Also, if one is paying 1st world prices, they're entitled to complain about 1st world "problems". |

I have climate rules set to warm up the seats but it waits until I actually get in the car and push the start button to kick in.

But can't they make it so it turns on the seat and steering wheel when the car is remotely started? If they think it's going to get too hot, then why not default it to the lowest setting?

It's true. From the app you can select "Climatize now" or programme it for departure and it warms up the cabin, the driver's seat, and the steering wheel. But this is not the same as remote start, the car doesn't start the engine, it just uses the batteries for pre-conditioning the cabin without starting the car. It works really well

Yes. Even when we hit Climatize now, it takes us to a page where it says the engine will be started and it'll run for 15 minutes before shutting down.

Yes, exactly, I was referring specifically to the 330e. One correction though, the passenger seat is also warmed, not only the driver's.
