Installed a Wagner manifold today, spent a decent amount of time making lines to reroute the evap under the manifold, also rerouted the engine harness. Engine is less of an eyesore, nownonly if we could clean up all the wiring on the valve cover.

Note: if you plan to use a phenolic spacer with a Wagner manifold you will need the following:

-Light modification to the manifold is required for additional clearance to the cylinder head
-Spacers/modifications to mounting brackets

Scroll through the thread for additional photos of harness routing and logs.

Nice! Please share your existing mods and driving impressions!

Wiring harness rerouting - was this a reversible change or did you have to cut/grind things?

Modify the manifold for phenolic - what did you have to modify exactly?

Bm3, Bm3 FF kit, E60 blend on multimap, MRM 4.5” DP, OEM+ intake (BMC drop in, CTS inlet, PE intake arm), custom turbo heat shield/intake snorkel.

IATs are solid on the street, temps only go up a few degrees after 2 gear pull. Stock manifold I was seeing almost 30F increase (2 gear pull). After heat shielding, intake ducting I got it down to 15F increase over 2 gears. Probably try to get some logs tonight.

100% reversible - No cutting or grinding. Just need to take it out of the plastic molded housing. There are 2 harnesses that lay in the housing, I separated them for easier/cleaner routing. I used some harness tape similar to oem to wrap up each of the harnesses.

There are protrusions on the cylinder head at each port that were coming in contact with top side the flange. Just needed bevel the 90deg edge in the center of each port for it to clear. I just taped off the ports and just a file to bevel the edge a little, maybe 2mm. Attached pic and circled the area that needs to be beveled, need to do it for each port. I only circled one so you can see the edge I’m taking about.

Reliability - no reported failures i.e. CSF core leaking into the engine.

Better performance - lower temps over long strenuous use, lots of data from track (circuit) drivers.

Price - I got it for $2500 shipped.

If you’re just doing the manifold and harness reroute, I’d say somewhere around 4 hours.

No check engine, car feels great!

Photos of the harness with the housing removed and wrapped separately.

I didn’t get a photo of the harness routing, but the red line is the routing path for both harnesses, routes under the thin coolant breather line, around the manifold mounting bracket and up to the DME.

Here is a standard 2 gear log I always run, you can see that the temps stay solid throughout the pull. Which is a huge improvement from the stock manifold that had an average of 20F increase on the same 2 gear pull. Track season just opened up here so I’ll update when I get out there.

More cooling mods will be tested once I collect enough data on this setup. Excited for the next mod, it’s kind of uncharted territory… a new product currently in development that has not been offered in any of the BMW air-water cooled turbo engines. It deserves its own thread later if testing goes well.

Late to this thread and also off topic but does the stock fuel system hold up fine on E60? HPFP isn’t struggling up at these %’s?

Yea E60 is holding up fine on the factory TU fuel system, zero crash. Max angle logged was low 90, hpfp maxes out at 126.

E59 log attached.

Great info! Thanks alot. I’m on multimap as well. Excited to run some E and make more power (especially in this great weather). Impatiently waiting for my FF kit to ship.
