These are high-level steps I plan to perform on my 22 M340i.
  1. Remove 5AP from VO
  2. Code BDC_BODY3, HU_MGU, FML (both of them), KAFAS4
  3. Change the following in KAFAS4 via FDL coding:
    • COUNTRY_VARIATION Europe_RC [01]
    • C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH Rest of world [03]
    • C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH: Rest of world [02]

Not sure if this the last step is needed, found that on the G05 forum to impove how the antidazzle works.
Did you find that you needed more parameters to code or were those the only changes you made?

Here are the steps that I've gathered from various threads on this site, credit is due to the original posters.

Make sure you have the most recent PSzData file for use with Esys. Here's how to VO code it without dealer finding out.

Note: just make sure the headlamp is switched off before proceeding — just as a precaution.

* Connect with Esys - Target Selector: choose the i-step that most closely matches your car version. For G20 that's S18A_xx_xx (select the most recent.) DO NOT select any of the options prefixed with "xx_DIRECT." Under Interface, select 'Connection by VIN.' If your VIN is not listed you have an issue.

* Hit Connect button

* Under 'Vehicle Order' click on Read

* Under 'Vehicle Order' right-click on FA and choose Activate FA if required

* Under 'SVT Actual', click on Read (ECU)

* If it's the first time you have coded, right-click on ECU under the SVT tree and choose 'Read Coding Data'. Use Windows File Explorer to backup your CAF directory which by default is C:\Data\CAF

* Save your FA and SVT

* Under Editors and Viewers - select 'FA Editor' and load your saved FA

* Click on SALAPA-Element find and remove 5AP from the list. Click on Apply Changes

* Click on File > Save As. Give it a name e.g "FA_no_5AP"

* Switch back to Expert Mode > Coding. Load the FA you just created with no 5AP and do Read (ECU) again.

* Select the following 5 ECU's in the SVT pane:

BDC_BODY3
HU_MGU
FML (both of them)
KAFAS4

* With the 5 ECUs selected, click on Code (not Code Default Values; doing so might require a trip to dealership.) Alternatively you can right click on each and "code"

* Check the report is Green for all 5 ECUs. Warnings are OK, but the text should be Green. Any red texts suggests you have a problem

* That's it! Congrats: anti-dazzle now works. Simply push the button on the left stalk to activate auto high beam.

Taken from G05 forum:

(2) FDL Code the following in Kafas 40F9:

COUNTRY_VARIATION Europe_RC [01]
C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH Rest of world [03]
C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH: Rest of world [02]

Also, check these for good measure

BDC_BODY3 > LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y > no_AFS to AFS
BDC_BODY3 > C_BLC_PRE_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > C_AFS_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA > Disable to Enable
BDC_BODY3 > LUT_AFS_DRV_VERT > G22_Laser_US to G011/G22_Laser_ECE
BDC_BODY3 > C_CLC_CURV_V3 > US to ECE
BDC_BODY3 > C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI > 55km/h to standard
FLM2 > Lmm1_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
FLM2 > Lmm2_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
FLM2 > Staging2_Data > Wert_2 to Wert_1
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_US_SENSITIVITY_MODE > US to Normal [00]
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH > US to Rest of world [03]
KAFAS4 > C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH > US to Rest of world [02]

lol so the front signal lights don’t blink when I turn them on, they just turn on and stay on after using the stalker and then go off when I put the stalker to the normal position.

Fixed it, something to do with those additional parameters at the end causing it, I’m thinking the FLM2 parameters specifically, I’ll have to play around with it this long weekend.

Unlikely it will be that soon but we will see. Canada approved anti-dazzle a few years ago using current ECE standards and BMW still codes out anti-dazzle for them. They do however offer enabling them as a dealer option.

We can never have anything cool here in the US.

Not never; just takes time to certify headlights after approval.

So i followed the esys coding instructions and coded all the ecus. When I went back and checked out BDC_BODY3 with bimmercode, i noticed all the options under LaMaster 1-3 were changed to it default setting with antidizzle disabled.

Anyone can possibly give me some pointers?

Not sure which instructions you used, but VO coding will always resets modules to factory values. Always VO code and then FDL code.

I thought that VO coding will reset modules to factory values based off of the changed VO. If 5AP is deleted from the VO, wouldn't the factory values be anti-dazzle enabled?

Or is my understanding of it completely wrong?

VO coding uses boolean logic. Because NGHB is not a factory option for NA cars, just removing disabling code unfortunately does not make all required changes.

I followed these options (on quoted post above) via Bimmercode exactly and got a favorable result. I did code the "basic" 2 options first, then added in the additional options from the second box.

I have S05AZ and BMW added S05AP

Very pleased and thx to all on this thread!

You can get the dealer to enable anti-dazzle in Canada?
Do you have to pay for it?

Yes, looks to be an hours work. Some people say their dealer won't do it so your mileage may vary. BMNW CA's site refers to the regular LED's but that is likely due to the lasers not being available when this option first came out.

I have the LCI with decoded Adaptive Headlights.
Hopefully it can be done!

I am “onboard” but indeed it seems the brain trust of the forum says that the full anti-dazzle/variable light distribution system is not “fully enabled” without having taken the coding out of the Vehicle Order and coding down compiled code to other options (ESYS method). But I’m a 20/80 kinda guy - 20% of the effort for 80% of the results. If I’m liking it a few months from now, I’ll re-consider doing the full kit & kaboodle. But for now, this is a brilliant result!

I went through and did all the coding via fdl in the various ecus with esysx.. I'll see how it works out. In the past I removed the 5AP. Everyone has me nervous with talk to the cars being flagged. Thanks for all the contributions.

Just removing 5AP is never enough. But, you do not have to write FA changes to VCM so hopefully you did not.
