So boring looking, am so glad g8x went with the big grills.. otherwise it would have looked like a rental class 3 series sitting in national and enterprise lots….

I have the pre-LCI model.

The LCI looks better in and out. Especially inside: as idrive 7 screens, especially the instrument cluster, and the Casio watch style temp indicators in the middle are severely outdated. The new screen looks way better, and makes the interior look way more modern. And lack of buttons is overblown, as AC indicators are fixed on the screen anyway, and that's not something that needs adjustment constantly. At least for me, it's almost always set to 72-auto.

From the outside, it just looks cleaner and very classic BMW. The fact that it gets hate in here, shows how insincere and unhappy people are with their lives, unfortunately. They don't want the new design with big bold grills, but they don't want the classic style either. I'd say probably they only want their younger years back... (This is not about everyone who hates grills or this. This is about those who hate both, and get upset and attack if you like them)

Most of the people in here who say the interior is bad haven't even seen it yet. All the videos of people showing off the idrive 8 have stated it is definitely superior to the previous gen setup. I understand maybe having better integration in the dash but I would imagine that would raise the dashboard too high and wouldn't look as clean. I also like the more exposed trim pieces. I bet the more exposed carbon fiber trim would look just badass. I think it'll have that wow factor once more people see it in person.

Everyone that has an issue with it should go look at like the Mercedes C43. Now thats a very unintegrated, confusing, cluttered mess if I’ve ever seen one.

I was in idrive 7 camp earlier and had 2022 M340i on order. Then I went to BMW Electrified experience event where I saw curved display & idrive 8 on i4 M50. Spent a good 40 mins with that system.
Honestly, it doesn't look that bad. Infact, it was a much better experience as the screen is incredibly better, crisp, fast and every thing looked good even in bright sunlight. Didn't get the "not integrated" feel at all as the screen is tilted and infact it looked minimal and clean in a good way. Pictures and videos don't do justice. I saw idrive 8 in i7 and iX there as well. Then I hopped into 2022 3 series hybrid and immediately felt very dated.

I realized I have an option here to choose between 2 systems. I don't have any bias or attachment to something I already own to tip me in favor of one system.

You also got to think about software updates going forward and the fact that you'll have the system in i7 in a 3 series. IMO, idrive 7 will get less and less updates as new software feautes need to be scaled to 2 split screens. Finally, Apple Carplay teaser just tipped me to get the newer 2023 M340i.
If new tech is better, has potential to get even better, works well with new Carplay/Android Auto, and be less dated in couple of years, why not go for it? I changed my order to MY 2023 as a result.

Nailed it; this is literally the perfect LCI. Whoever that says otherwise currently has a pre-LCI 3er in their garage.

idrive 7 felt VERY outdated after seeing idrive 8 in person. The screen in pre-LCI models looks so bad imo. It felt like I was using a kindle if that makes sense.

I think quite a lot of people will be trading in their pre-LCI eventually.

I didn’t like the design, but then looked at the i4 dash and decided it looks pretty nice. I like the front especially the lights. The back maybe isn’t as good as the old but I will have to see it in person. I can’t wait to get mine. I was kind of bummed I couldn’t get the pre LCI, but now I feel I would have been disappointed had I not gotten the newest version.

It's funny how when an LCI drops the people on the forums bash it, yet it's still a top seller. Then the new body style 3 will come out and the same people will like the previous term.

Remember when everybody hated the 4 series grille?

At this point the shortage is actually predominantly "commodity" chips made from 300mm wafer. 200mm wafer fabs are doing fine, so it would actually make more sense to use higher end chips. It's why you can buy GPUs, tablets, PCs etc no problem now, but when you go to order a Mini Cooper S, they recommend not getting the heated steering wheel unless you want to wait months, lol.

In the US? Ordered mine in Canada with Tartufo/Carbon Fiber, not sure if it's available in the US.

I’m not sure, I’ve ordered it in the UK along with the M seats.

Sounds like your trying to hide something...

Black on black usually hides the detail.

Also not a fan of the massive fangs on the LCI rear bumper.
