I drive an e93 but I never tire of watching my hardtop go up or down. It's such a marvelous sight to behold...I was hoping that BMW would come back having added a sunroof to the hardtop for sh*ts and giggles

Finally we have evidence to note that the styling influenced by The 8. Is more organic rather than prominent sharp lines. The removal of the hardtop is not just for weight although it will be greatly beneficial but also for design aesthetics. Hence why an angular roof design would greatly contrast with the more organic crisp appearance.
Also though the false nose cone you can see the full length twin kidney grille, octangular in outline similar to Vision iDynamics and the hook nose in the centre which also doubles as the bonnet catch. The licence plate will feature within the middle of the kidney grille. It is aligned with two side intakes heavily contoured which we will see first in the all new 3er scultuped into the actual bumper itself. Unless it's the M Sport to which the intakes will be suitably larger for more cooling. The new 4er Coupe has also begun to test and its a matter of time to see how that in essence becomes more of an 8er outline and more sportier and dynamic than before. As which will be beneficial to the next M4 Coupe. The new 4er is controversial in its execution. But heavily influenced to be a more prominent sports car. Personally I think it looks great.

I can fit my Titleist tour bag in rear of the F33/F83, just drop the rear seat down.

The product expansion is really taking BMW back to its more sporting intentions. Vehicles such as The 8,Z4,X5,3er and the new 4er really illustrate this. As does the all new BMW X6 which ditches the utilerian appearance of the F16 for something reminiscent of the first ever X6 -The E71.

14 years of the E93 and F33/F83, 4 leased verts, has me considering upcoming M8 or the last swan song for a 2020 F83 would make it 3 F33/F83 during this production run. Hard top was nice, but only a mater of time before a return to a soft top due to fuel efficiency standards.

Ragtops are so ugly. I get the weight savings but if you're driving a vert you're already killing the driving dynamics anyhow so what's the difference? At least with a hardtop it looks half decent with the top up

I for one am glad with the soft top change, because despite it being a convertible, trunk space is still important and the current 4er is abysmal in space with the top down, which was one of the reasons I didn't buy it. Not all of us can get a $60k+ convertible as a third vehicle so having some useable trunk space for at least more than one backpack is pretty nice. I'm also glad that it looks like despite using the same platform the 4er will be very different looking in the front and back, looks very inspired by the new Z4 and 8er.
Plus who knows, maybe BMW will do what they did with the e36/46 and sell a removable separate hardtop for the winter.

Its rumored to be dropped for the next generation (G chassis) whenever that comes probably 2020-2022, the only 2's available will be a coupe (rwd) and gran coupe (fwd) leaving the Z4, 4 and 8 series to be the only convertibles left.
