Ordered one of the first G20 330d to be produced
After a frustrating experience with delays on a new X3 due to Brexit, I cancelled the order and put the feelers out for any new stock vehicles needing a new owner. TRL Berry came out trumps and offered me his personal ordered demo which is the following:
3SMJ *G20 330d M Sport Saloon B57O 3.0d C31 * Portimao Blue *Metallic MAOI *Oyster with grey contrast stitching V 1PL * 19" Bicolour Jet Black 791 M light Do 2VF * Adaptive M Sport suspension 5DN * Parking Assistant Plus 688 HK Surround Sound Package ZMS * M Sport Plus package Z0J * Technology package I've been told it will be one of the first 330d in the country. None have been tested and there isn't anything anywhere that i can find with regards to a road test. I'm sure it will be amazing. It has landed in the UK this weekend and I should be getting it in the next few weeks. Last edited by b19rak; 04-23-2019 at 03:56 PM.. |

What delays due to Brexit? Is the UK X3 not made in Spartanburg USA?

It is somewhat bizarre that the G20 330d has not only begun production but will apparently be in customers' hands before BMW has published a press release covering it (nor even mentioned it at all, for that matter).

I've ordered this car without seeing one in the flesh, test driving, no reviews on the engine. I'm sure it will be fine.
From what TRL@Berry BMW has told me, this is the only 330d in the country. It's not been tested by anyone yet. |

There's people in germany that had theirs delivers for a couple of days (or maybe up to two weeks) now. The people who took delivery say the engine is awesome, but no thorough reviews yet. But yeah, it's weird that there's apparently absolutely no press coverage/reviews as of yet. |

I had seen absolutely no coverage of that. And to the best of my recollection, every configurator I'd looked at from various countries around the world showed, at most, the 320i, 320d, and 330i (of course, the M340i has been added to most of them as well now). Additionally, I had Googled "G20 330d" a number of times with no results. But I now see that if I use "2019 330d" there are some hits. I hadn't tried that until now - a clear oversight on my part. Is the 318d also being produced now, or is that not coming until July or November? |

I didn't see any tests, and I haven't been able to test drive a G20 318d, but I've recently took a long road trip with a 2018 F30 318d and was perfectly satisfied with the engine power for my needs which is dominantly highway, and the rest a mix of city and B-roads. I don't have any doubt that G20 318d will be powerful enough for decent overtaking performance on B-roads and multi-hour 150km/h autobahn cruising. That's all I need performance wise. |

Thanks. I also think so.
I'll be happy to share my impressions after the car is delivered if someone is interested. Last edited by Calamari; 05-11-2019 at 02:06 PM.. |

Glad he has comfort pack. Mine does not and it's shocking you don't have elec seats and power bootlid as standard at this price. |

The 330d is so torquey. It's a replacement for the 335d. I loved driving my E90 335d. However, after 6 years I had to ditch it. The carbon build up situation in that engine was untenable. I know all direct injection engines have that issue but in the 335d it was compounded by the EGR system. It was also substantially more difficult and expensive to clean that similar petrol CBU on the intake.
In the F30 generation we only got the wimpy diesel (320d rebadged as 328d) and I haven't heard of any plans for a diesel G20 for the US market. Hopefully BMW has improved the CBU problem in the 330d. |
