I was just told by the Genius rep that I’ve been pushed back to week 37 with a completion date of 9/20.
Status changed to production begins on 8/30 so I was excited. This news is not exciting.

Damn, sorry to hear. That does not bode well for me. My status never changed this entire past week. Still in scheduled for production.
Week 36. I suppose it still could be finished by 9/12, if started Monday, 9/6 since there's still a 7 day window to build it.

It's all such a moving target. Everyone's timeline can change in an instant.

Just tried the genius line. Closed for the entire holiday weekend. Automated line was useless. No update.

Have to wait now until Tuesday before I can confirm status. I guess the good news is, that if I also get pushed to week 37,
I don't think it will get pushed out again. I've never seen anyone get pushed out a week, more that once.

Next time, I'm buying off the lot. This wait is insane.

To add to the confusion described above, I talked with an extremely confident and competent genius yesterday who assured me that my week 37 build is scheduled for this week (week 36). This is the 3rd genius who's said the same thing. I pressed her about the confusion and she said that's the way their system is set up. I'm not holding my breath.

Good idea, because you'd turn blue! The Geniuses are as competent, as the information that comes from the factory.
They're just reading off of screens, info that comes from the factory. They cannot be assured of anything. Very frustrating.

As you know, their confidence is is what they learn by BMW, in how to talk to consumers.

Be interesting to see come Tuesday, where we both wind up in the schedule. Be sure to post your findings. Thanks!

I know they're just reading information off a computer screen, but It's curious that 3 out of 4 geniuses have given me the same information. It's not encouraging that your week 36 has not started yet. We'll all have to find some distractions until Tuesday.

It's so frustrating and exciting at the same time. My car is built but just sitting in Mexico. I'm fine with waiting to some degree, I just wish the genius could give more information. They can't tell you when the estimated next ship is, how many ships there are typically in a month, or any estimated delivery at all. I know there's a lot going on that people can't control but I'm not asking for guarantees just estimates.

I ordered a 2022 M440i xDrive, black sapphire / red interior with 19" black rims. I included HK sound/ Laser headlights/ Executive / driving assistant pro.

I ordered it 7/28. Its moved from order received to scheduled for production and then back to order received two times in the month of August. It now sits at order received... Genus told me mid august it was on track for the first week of September to be built. Called last week and it got pushed to Week 40 build on 8/27. It indeed has been a commiserating process... I am also planning for PCD but have heard 0 details regarding that. Ive also been seeing that the shipping process from Port to Port has been about 4 weeks as well... Im hoping for some luck soon.

They will send you an email with all the info on PCD once your car gets on a ship and they set the schedule for your delivery.....my boat left Germany 8/19 and is due into Charleston 9/07 but then 4 weeks until delivery...

This is good to hear because I emailed PDC and they told me they give you about a 2 week notice before car is ready which would be really tough to make travel arrangements that quickly. A month is much better!

Pushed to week 40 from beginning of September?!?! Damn, it just keeps getting worse.

Will be interesting to see what happens Tuesday for a few of us waiting on updates.

Beautiful build, BTW. Back in October 2020, I saw at a dealer, one of the first 440i coupes.
Black with red tacora interior. Absolutely stunning. The grill with shadow line trim integrates beautifully with the black car.

Thanks! A lot of the colors and trims are fire fire. Im hoping for some type of news on Tuesday. I called my dealer as well since genus said they have more direct contact? I should be hearing from him soon and ill be sure to share. Ciao!

Same thing here. After a month of "scheduled for production", today it says it has gone BACK a step.
Was a week 36 build. I'm incredibly annoyed. What the hell is causing these delays?

Per Genius this morning: Production scheduled for week 42 - October 18-22. A 5-week delay. She said that things are improving and that date looks "pretty good". Oh boy! Let's have a party!

Damn! It seems that their production schedule is extremely fluid and unpredictable. My guess is that things could change for better or worse at any moment. I just texted my SA also and will post if I learn anything new.

Todays update: SA just said that his computer system at the dealership also says it was pushed out to week 45 from week 36.
That would put it at the second week of November. A NINE week delay.

However, he thinks that is completely wrong. He's been with BMW for 15 years and has never seen that kind of delay.
Even in these crazy times.


He's in the process of checking, and trying to verify the actual build week. He didn't say specifically how he'd do that,
but safe to assume he's getting in touch with the factory directly, or at least BMW Corporate here in the states.

Let's hope he is right, that it's not that long of a delay. Get in touch with your SA's folks, and put some pressure on.
Springerdrive, hope you are correct and i get back to at least week 41.

I heard from my SA, still on track for 9/20. He says he hasn’t heard anything about delays or setbacks and says there should be lots of movement over the next 10 days.
I’ll hold onto and enjoy this positive report for a few days before the website sends me into a tailspin…
