Mirror cap removal

I purchased a pair of carbon fiber mirror caps for my G22, and would love some pointers on how to best remove the stock ones. Videos on the internet show some folks removing the actual mirror first, and others prying the actual cap only.

Any help is appreciated!

Just pry it off rather than removing the whole mirror.

Great video
Thanks, mate! It looks like the right approach is to remove the mirror first. I saw another video and the guy was just prying the cover off, but I tried it with mine and they are not budging. I didn’t want to damage anything so I gave up.
I will try to remove the mirrors first and hopefully get the new covers on uneventfully.
Much appreciated!

I pretty much did it this way. I had to do it twice, because the first set i got didn't fit well at all.

It was scary at first, just like the vid. but i just kept prying until it popped off.

The guy in the video is super rough... i was way more gentle but it did just pop off.

Thanks! The caps on my G22 are different. I actually replaced the caps on my wife’s X4m40i following this video once and it was pretty easy. The G22 seems to be a completely different animal though.
