Arrow M340i removing/deactivated active shutter grill

Hello everyone,
I been doing a few changes to my m340i and mods,
Bimmercode, intake, front lip, back diffuser, etc.

Now I am looking to remove/disabled the active grill, I went as far as unplugged it while they were open so they will stay open, it works but car will throw the CEL,
I will try next to remove the shutters motor and or remove the arms so it won't move,

Has anyone done it successfully?

Can't help but really - why on earth would you? The active grille helps get the car to operating temp quicker when cold.

Dude he did not ask for a POV on the performance tradeoff, but thanks for the unsolicited advice. Clearly you also missed that his location is Southern California, where on a cold day (w/ vents open), it might take an extra 45 seconds to get to operating temp.

@Ciro, re. your question... Not saying it hasn't been done, but I'm not aware of anyone in the forum who has completed this mod. I've scanned YouTube and came up empty there as well. If you move forward, I think a few folks here might be interested in learning about the level of difficulty and outcome if you wouldn't mind posting a follow up. Good luck!

You may be able to pull the actual shutters and leave the motor plugged in. DME sees the motor plugged in so no CEL, but you achieve the goal of an open look.

I'm using this video for reference:

I appreciate you being offended on behalf of another user but such is the beauty of an open forum. It's entirely possible OP is not aware of the reason behind the functionality, hence my comment. The location actually just adds merit to my (genuine) query; since if anything it means the grille will be shut for a marginal amount of time anyway. Why risk wrecking a component or warranty claim for short of 45 seconds with the grille closed?

Sure, some people will just like the look but that doesn't always mean it's a good idea

Couldn't actually agree more with you, alas logic be damned on a forum, because MODS!

At any rate, each to their own I guess

ive never used bimmercode so i cant answer that. but i dont see it listed as a coding option on bimmercode. ill attempt to take a screen shot of the page in ISTA today.

edit: unfortunately i couldnt get them to stay open after i exit the service function. but elsewhere in ISTA it indicates that to permantely open the radiator blinds its done in the service function.

Is this something I can request my dealer's service center to do for me?

Delighted_Jester can you post a pic of the ISTA screen (take a pic of the screen with your phone) & post here? Would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you! I will contact the Bimmercode developer & see if he can incorporate the ability to toggle this off/on in the app with the next release.
