Can I install M performance parts on base a 330i?
Hi Bimmer fam,
So, I’ve had my new 2019 330i now for about 2 weeks. I’m starting to really regret not getting the M340 I just feel like the base 330i exhaust note is pretty much non-existent and the car doesn’t look beefy enough. Mine doesn’t even have the fog light package. The reason I got the base was because my sales advisor offered me a HUGE discount on a showroom model. Don’t get me wrong though, I LOVE the car so far. I just wish it had more of a more aggressive vibe. Do you think it’s possible for me to get the dealership to install M Performance parts? Like, maybe switch out the exhaust system, install the sport bumpers, etc? Or would that be too try-hard like “look at me I’m driving a fake M340”? I’ve looked online for some aftermarket parts, but it seems like there’s not a lot of options right now, I’m guessing because the car is still too new. Any suggestions of what I could do to beef up my car a little? Thanks fam! Last edited by lemonteaaa; 09-01-2019 at 12:43 AM.. |

It's all comestic, so no reason why not, but I don't know why you would. Put the money to one side and use it to upgrade the next one.

I would go with the black m performance grill since it’s cheap and easy. Just make sure you get the one appropriate for whether you have the parking assistant. Would otherwise wait until a few exhausts come out and then compare price and sound if you are so inclined.

Did you lease or buy? My brother ran into the same thing, getting the 330i after being offered a huge discount, but wanting to add a whole bunch of aftermarket items after the fact just negates all the savings you received. IMO I just like getting a car out the door that I really like and leaving it be. Just my 2 cents.

I don't see why an M performance exhaust won't fit unless the tips are different. Or any of the available exhausts for the G20 330i.

and yeah if it's a lease I def would not recommend throwing your money away on major mods. but if you wanted to do some minor upgrades I think these would be worth it: 1. JB+ 2. Black grille 3. OEM black chrome exhaust tips (if you don't have it already) and save your money for your future M model car Last edited by chris_portimaog20; 08-23-2020 at 11:12 AM.. Reason: additions |

No. Just drop the suspension 1-2 inch and get 19" wider rims. The car is too high as I see

Everything is a direct swap. Even though it's a lease, go for it if it makes you happy.
For me personally, cars are my passion/hobby and I always tinker with whatever I have. I'm by no means a brand loyalist(even though I've owned the last 4 of 5 3 series generations). I love getting a good deal on a car that I have an eye on even if it's not exactly what I want because I know I can personally make it better myself. As for the deal you pay far less than getting exactly what you want but still like the car(Makes more financial sense, Accord money for a BMW). Anyone can just pay for it, but not everyone can make something special and unique. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty and doing some of the work your self, do what makesyou happy and enjoy the car. Best part is you can get into something better or different in 3yrs. Also, regards to it being a lease and moding it. When you return the car, you can remove all the additions and sell them. This will recoup at least 70% of the cost, just don't get too invasive and you'll have fun. |
