The contract I signed for a 420d GC states:

"16. If the Seller is unable to supply any Accessory (of whatever nature) the Seller may at its option either:-
a. substitute a reasonable equivalent; or
b. delete the Accessory from the Order and reduce the Purchase Price by an amount equal to the price of the Accessory in question.
17. The Seller’s inability to supply an Accessory shall not constitute a breach of contract or entitle the Purchaser to repudiate the Contract or reject the Vehicle."

Where "accessory" is described as "a. Accessory" means an extra or accessory detailed in the Order"

So my reading of that is losing something like HK sound system, HUD, electric seats etc would be an accessory. Touchscreen and Carplay are standard vehicle features ... so that would be a breach of contract unless the deletion code was explicitly in the order (I only have 48Z on mine which is passenger lumbar/width deletion)

So would an option like Driving Assitant Professional be an "accessory"?

Because the way I read it, if they deleted that and you cancelled, you wouldn't get your deposit back if it was deemed an accessory.

That would be my reading, given that it's in the optional Technology Plus pack. Whether the dealership actually holds you to the contract or not is a different question. Mine told me I could cancel any time I want as they'd have no problem shifting it given the current shortages on new cars ... but I don't have that in writing. It's also quite interesting that every time I've emailed about deletions I get a phone call response ... seems they're deliberately avoiding putting anything in writing.

BMW may well have written that into their contract, but it doesn't necessarily make it legally binding, as I imagine a good lawyer could reasonably argue that if you lost a hell of a lot of things, that you wouldn't have placed the order in the 1st place.

Agreed If you really want to bail I'm sure mention of a solicitor will end it as they could re sell it fine I'm sure.

(1) A term of a contract to supply goods is not binding on the consumer to the extent that it would exclude or restrict the trader’s liability arising under any of these provisions...

Ordered 4 days after you, similar spec, no shadowline plus or laserlights but pan roof and fiona red/black leather. Don't even have a build slot yet.

I was in for week 14 since a push-back in January (originally in for week 3).
It has been pushed back, a week at a time, 3 times now, each time at the last moment! Currently due to go into build next week.
Hopefully it means it's really close now, but it's killing me. Ordered early November.

EDIT: Now pushed by another week so also currently looking at week 18

I ordered 3 weeks after you and was told about 2 weeks ago that mine will definitely be an LCI car (I was never given a date). Not that happy about it at all, but i'd imagine there's hundreds of thousands of people experiencing something similar across all brands.

Apparently all build slots for current version are taken up, so I'd imagine that you'll slip into LCI territory too (with that bloody awful screen).

At the time was told no wireless charging or the card for keyless entry.
Have been told a couple of weeks ago though that if wireless charging is back, if I want it at a price. But I've decided against as I plan on jerry rigging my own MagSafe charging solution instead.
